shield just sucks for competitive play. nothing can be done about it. Its not like the jumping getting taken out or anything. It just makes it so the games more about baiting with a shield instead of aim/stealth skill. Changed the game too much. It would be like putting in a rocket launcher, sort of

Imho when you shoot a pistol while holding a shield, the gap needs to be a lot bigger... or a bigger gap at the bottom of the shield while running... to make it easier to kill... but to have a hitbox where the gap in the shield is, that just makes the shield useless and prone to colt sprayers... and for the exploits... i cant see them ever being fixed... they'll just be haxed, and haxed forever.. amen

Yes Doom 3 is very good. Having seen both HL2 and D3 played, Doom3 animation and grafix are clearly better than HL2. Not to say that HL2 is bad, nowhere near that, but D3 is better in terms of grafix and more chilling suspense. Oh, BTW, HL2 will be delayed....



Getting back to the riot shield, it really is a good addition, adding some good balance (now cs_assault is clearly more balanced with it). Its just a game and CS has never really been realistic enough. For one, an AWP 0.5 bullet goes through a light armor tank.

i dont really like the shield, and i think it will take a while to adjust to...but i think we can do it. its not the end of the world. it should just make the game more interesting. make some new strats, you lazy people

You look like you live in the US, and judging by your name.. CAL-o doesn't count as med-high level clanwars, pal. Try playing against a CAL-m clan as T's on cpl_fire and losing 9-3 and then winning 12-0 on CT just by using the shield and not being complete idiots about it.



The new tactics won't be interesting at all. Basically, the CTs have been blocking off doors and entrances to bombsites, killing the guy with the bomb and making walls of shields around it, and just generally making it very difficult for us to do much unless we were behind them. Now, here's the tricky part.. when you're playing CAL-m or higher clans, it's rather difficult to get behind the CTs without them noticing, following me?



The exploit is so ridiculously easy, I've had pubbers learn how to do it just by watching me buy in the beginning of a round. s2k made a video of how you can throw shields through walls and through the floors on many maps to teammates.



The thing I love most, is that you can fire a deagle through a 2 foot concrete wall.. but you can't fire an AWP bullet through a shield made to stop rocks and weaker guns. CS may not be realistic but atleast its half logical. VALVe won't fix shit, I wouldn't be suprised to see them make grenades stronger, which would just fuck up the game worse. My clan is 5-0 in CAL-im and like 1-4 in UGS-m because all we do is forfeit, but I'd gladly quit CAL for UGS if something isn't done about the shield. 3D is expressing the same opinions I am (basically), and I know how much everyone on this site loves 3D. So if you like the shield, you probably like 3D too and they'll change your sheep minds.

I don't understand the logic of allowing the Riot Shield to be used in CAL. It's still glitched, it can still be exploited worse than a Vietmanese child working for 95 cents a day making Nikes, and only totally unbalances the game in favor of the CT side.



Bad enough some of the changes in 1.6 have been beyond horrible, but the Riot Shield was just the cherry on top of the pile of $#!*.



This means the CAL admins have that much more to look at, there will be double, maybe triple the amount of disputes, and god knows how much more complaining. I can see CAL hoping Valve fixes the shield glitches before Week 4 starts, but you really think that's going to happen? We're going to hear a lot of bitching when matches start up again next week...

Doesn't SWAT use the glass Riot Shield? They should have made the Riot shield exactly that, and make it breakable, that will solve the balance issue.

Want to remove the shield?

Get rid of the shield and "AWP" in the same time since you guys want to have a "funnier" game. This would make CS a much exciting game either in pubs or professional leagues.



I'm tired of watching 10 AWPers in every round at de_dust after 3~4 rounds.
