Theres gotta be some form of witchcraft going on here, because according to Tom's Hardware, the 5900 owns the 9800 at Doom 3.

The differecne between Nvidia and Ati is that Ati apoligized for it and took it out right away. Nvidia blamed Futuremark for attacking them then threatened them with their lawyers to make them shutup. Then ontop of that they haven't quit cheating. If you read any of the articles you will see that Nvidia was puting HL2 cheats intheir driver which Valve found and got pissed off about because they tested them and found out that nvidia cards just CANNOT do DX9 they way it is ment to. They are pissed because with Nvidias cheats from futuremark and on nvidia was tricking people into thinking that the FX cards could run DX9 games the way the sould and sometimes better then the 9800. Well when the DX9 games started coming out (Tomb Raider) it start proving that the FX cards just aren't doing what they should.



Yes Ati did have the whole quake/quack thing and they did ahve a small optimization in 3Dmark but when people pointed out the optimization they said sorry we'll take it out. And as far as anyone knows they havn't done anything like it again and instead jsut let the cards speak for themselves.

so lemme get this straight.... is 9600 pro older version than 9700 pro? how about 9700 pro??? is it gunna be any good on this game???

You also need to keep in mind all ATi did was rearrange the order in which shaders were done. It has NO EFFECT ON IMAGE QUALITY this is concidered a legit optimization. What nvidia did was NOT legit they lowered the Image quality by lower the precision converting 2.0 shaders to 1.4 ect .



Also They didnt optimize for ATI cards. Ati cards run on the STANDARD DX 9 path that any DX 9 card can. Nvidia however has a special path that is just for nvidia that took 5 times more to do. Ati's deal is just for packaging the game with their cards. Might I add this deal was done only a little while ago so NOTHING HAPPENED. SO ITS optimized for Nvidia's cards. Nvidia cards suck at PS 2.0 for hardware reasons....and since HL2 uses so many of them it kills Nvidia's performance.....+ its been showen the new Det 50s cheat and hurt imagle qulaity.
