hehe. I was just wondering about the 9700 pro. I'm sure that that was brought out as a stopgap between the 9600 ...... if that makes any sense.
Well, apart from the fact that the 9700 Pro was the best consumer graphics card until early this year. Stopgap indeed!

I think the FX line is really half-assed for the most part. They wanted to have DX9 feature support but somewhere along the way the forgot about PERFORMANCE. I think ATi is going to stay in the lead for a long time, if not for good or until either of the companies goes belly up.

Will this run on my 386?

Heh, anyway, nice to see I'm not the only nerd who downloaded a 600meg E3 video, though I'm one of the few to do it on a 56k.
That's because all of my 56k friends have me download big shit for them and burn it to a disk =)

There are no details as to what the card's driver settings were(could have been 1600X1200 4xFSAA & 8x Aniso...why would you need to run that). Nvidia users shouldn't be pissed until the game comes out and benchmarks are run at a variety of settings.

good news for me then... no need for me to upgrade my motherboard for 8x support for those FXs... Ti4200 will do for me then.. not much diff from those FX... saves $$$...

This is true. I don't know why, but VAVLe and friends seem intent on hyping the new Radeons.

VALVe and ATi (note the similarity in capitalisation!) made a deal to ship HL2 with some ATi video cards... the really good ones.

Death to he who decided that us Aussies should wait until October to get our greasy little hands on HL2.

Well EA games say their games run best with Nvidia and Valve now says their games run best with ATI. I seriously doubt they run any different, its just marketing that does it. It's a dual partnership, a sponsor, thats all. If you have the top of the line ATI and GeForce cards there won't be a noticeable difference. I have a GeForce 5900 and my friend has the ATI 9800 Pro, we play BF 1942 a lot and when I play on his I can't tell a difference. With CS we both run at about 99 fps at all times, they are both equal cards in my opinion. There are too many "benchmark" tests out there, and they all report different things, so I like to try them myself. Who did the benchmark tests again? Oh yea Valve, and EA says that GeForce cards run better in thier games, well there is no difference that I can tell when on my or my friends computer.
