But I guess all this proves that the average CS player is still at that teenage-rage age.

It is interesting to see the amount of negative comments concerning steam and CS 1.6.



Apparently we're supposed to just run Steam and it'll update. I'm backing heldorado on this one. The steam site is prolly down because they need the bandwidth to send out all the updates. Also, as someone who does work on and repair computers all the time, I know that rolling out new things takes time and effort. Give VALVe a chance to try their new schtick and if it doesn't work, then they'll change it, but we should all give them the benefit of the doubt and judge it only after the final copy has been downloaded and they've had a chance to change some problems that crop up.



When I rebuilt the computer that I'm using as my gaming server, it took a week's worth of work just to get it built, a working OS installed, and getting the server software installed. It then took another week to tweak the server and install all the plugins for it that I want. I'm still not 100% satisfied with it and I'm still working on it even now.



It's taken me a lot of time and hassle to put it together. I can't imagine what it's taking to put Steam together. Let's just give them a little time and I'm sure in the end it'll be worth the wait. If not, there will be other games to play.

I just received a new press release from Doug Lombardi about the topic of the moment:



Steam Dedicated Server Release Tonight; Steam Client Tomorrow



We've been making final changes to the Steam network throughout the night. Unfortunately, it's taken longer than we planned. However, the Steam dedicated server will be released this evening, and the Steam client release is now scheduled for tomorrow.



We're working to get the release out as fast as we can -- sorry for the delay, and thanks for your patience.
