Wouldn't it be nice if the "Steam Client" was available for download from CS-Nation for CS nationalists?

A quick note to all the nitwits who say that it's ok for Valve to cave in on us since we haven't paid anything in a long time: even if no money is involved it's just not cool to tell a lot of people you're gonna do something important at date x time y and then fag out and not do it. But I suppose that in this case it's the classical thing to do, perhaps a CS-related release just wouldn't feel right if there wasn't chaos involved? (Although steampowered.com not loading even when the client wasn't available for download was a bit much, just how little bandwidth did they have ffs?)

If its released 11pm today in US of A that means it won't be with us in the UK till at least 7am Friday since U ppl are 7/8 hours behind us..... (dammit - if I had my modem I'd fire my beast to download it before work!)

Didn't the steampowered website say that it would work for 56k users earlier today when the site still said that steam was going to be released at 11PDT? I think it did and they just reverted back to the backup of the old page and never added the "works for 56k users" part back in. Someone else please tell us if they remeber this too because i'm not sure.

Yeah, i think valve are a bit stupid. they are guna lose lots of players from making 1.5 extinct. I dont think anything could ever beat 1.5 and 1.6 isnt guna do it either. Im guna get my server up to 1.6 when 1.5 dies so I can play as much as poss before its gone, plus more ppl will come to 1.5 servers for the mo. *sigh* this is a big disappointment from valve.

Got my server up an rolling with AM v2.50.56, SM v2.7.1, Chicken v1.0.5.1, and AMX v0.9.3 all on it with no problems. See you all there once the client files are released!!!!!

Not that long.........I did a fresh install of the server files early this morning and it prolly took about 1h30m to DL everything. The installation of the addons took me only minutes.



The new server installer DL's and installs ALL of the Half-Life and Counter-Strike files that are used in 1.5. You no longer have to deal with the rather deep folder paths to get to the files you need like you did with the Beta Steam. Like I said, the install looks just like the old installs (Ex: c:\Half-Life\cstrike)
