No, it's not the 9900 yet. The 9800XT is ATI's new flagship and will perform better than the 9800 pro. I haven't seen any benchmarks yet so I don't know by how much.

EternityU: That's a stretch. You can get 50% ATI products and your friend works for ATI? You're just talkin' out your ass now man :)

Is this card going to go for $500 like the other high end ATI cards? And will it make that much difference from my Ge force 4ti 4200? I am really looking to buy a new pc/video card, but over 300 for a video card is just silly.

heres what my friend said, though its not 100% for sure right:

the new card 256mb will be 500. the 128mb will be 450. The Radeon 9800 Pro price should drop when this one comes out.

dont take what i said as totally true, things can change.

I'll pay $500 for the ATI bundle if it comes with a 9800 XT All In Wonder or some other software perks.

I was thinking about getting a new video card when I get my copy of HL2, but I can't pay 500. I may get the 9800 pro if it goes below $350. Until then, it's GF4 4200 madness. Stinky feet.

$450 for the 128mb? if thats correct with the 9800Pro 128mb around 370. then get hl2 seperate thats $420.. i wonder if the performancee increase is worth 30 more dollars :P. ANd i wonder how cheap the 9800pro will get.

makes sence, cuz wasnt hl2 optimized for ati radeon cards?

yeah, they showed hl2 at e3 using ati cards.

btw the prices i said werent the HL2 bundle prices, its prices for the card itself.

                              If you're talking CS here...

I just recently bought a Radeon 9700 pro and the only difference I've seen is I can up the anti-aliasing and the anisotropic filtering without the frame rate being as glitchy. Nothing especially noticable.

One thing that is odd is how CS gets really glitchy when running in 800x600 with this card... worse than my Geforce 4 ti 4200. I don't know what the deal is with that. I have those new catalyst drivers.

This card will DEFINATELY improve performance in HL2 though, I can guarantee it.
