It sure looks like a good headset, but it's definately a lot of dough, as Rizzuh pointed out. I say if you want good headsets, it's better to buy them individually. Buy a good headphone and buy a mic separately. There aren't a lot of good headphones out there, and even if they were, it's "a lot of dough".

Another winner by Rizzuh! a great review... i think ill pick up some standerd dsp-500's for $60. i dont want to pay an extra $55 bucks for a horrible color scheme, heck i could paint 'em better my self...Comment

From what I have read so far, I think we can all agree that the DSP-500 is a great headset, although very fragile, but you guys haven't even mentioned the warranty at all. I have had mine for over a year, and when it broke down, I looked at the warranty and it surprisingly had lifetime coverage, so basically, I had to pay the shipping, total of $6 bucks, and they issued me a brand new one, even though I did try to repair the gadget myself (it didnt look like a headset afterwards).
So here's the summary:
Plantronics DSP-500 headset = l33t
Price = questionable, but Google it and you'll find it at a price of as low as $60.
Quality = not exactly my favorite device to listen music on, but gamewise, excellent.
Warranty = how can you lose?Comment

The reason for the USB is that it supposedly doesn't pick up electromagnetic noise seeing it quickly goes USB=digital.
nm that it still has to be converted in the usb box on the cable to digital so there's always a analog line ready to pick up interference, o well. as rizzuh says, yay for marketing hype.
At least it doesn't pick up noise from all the frequencies inside your computercase I guess is the logic.
btw, ironically my soundcard sometimes picks up USB noise.Comment

I have both the DSP-300 and the DSP-500 and they are both awesome headsets.
The only problem that I have ever had with the headsets is that the Person software can be flaky at times. In speaking to a Plantronics techie, it was suggested not to load the Persono software but just the headset drivers. This solved all my problems.

I actually bought one of the regular dsps, and from what I heard on servers, it sucked big time. That no one could hear me. So I just went and bought a 7 dolalr headset from target, and it works ten times better. This is such a waste of money.Comment

man, i got myself a $20 headset at compusa, some Labtec or whatnot, but i havent had any probs with it, i had these $45 ones from plantronics (a while ago) and i hated em, poor sound, the speakers needed a little more, speak in them, these $20 are fine, dont waste ur fuckin money, cs sounds arent that high quality and a cheap set with 3d sound will do you fine.....Comment

...That lifetime warranty would be useful for replacing my beaten and battered headset(the result of many impacts to the wall---no doubt caused by my rizzuh-withdrawals).Comment
