The summer CPL held 128 teams, hence $60,000.

The winter CPL will hold 64, hence half of $60,000 which is $30,000.
Didn't know that there were half the teams for the winter event.

I really don't think that CS on the HL engine as we know it will be headlining the CPL for more than another 2-3 events, BUT cs does have some really big things going for it that no other game yet has:

plays smoother than any other game (netcode and hitbox detection)

    ----HLTV----

5 person teams = perfect fit

a theme that people can easily relate to (how hard would it be to seriously shoutcast a game with a scifi theme)

a pace that builds tention without boring you

simple maps with no more than a few chokepoints

the ability for one 1 person to be the team superstar, but not without a great team

not to mention - most popular game around

Only when something can match this will CPL change...

Why wouldn't you believe it? They have some big name sponsors, it's run by the same people that ran LANtactics (and no one ever questioned them), and qualifiers are starting.

I think it's a little late for you CPL fanboys to be saying the CXG isn't for real.

Also, don't you find it odd that CXG is able to field $100,000 for first in CS, in it's very first event.. and CPL is only putting out $30,000 for first after how many years and how many huge sponsors? CPL is most likely pocketing a ton of money and claiming to be working "For the gamers".

      Not really.
