CPL Winter Update

With the Summer Championship behind us the CPL is out with the old and in with the new. Most importantly the prize list for the 2003 Winter Championship has been released on their event page with the Counter-Strike $100,000 purse extending, as per usual, to the top 16 teams. First place this time around brings in a modest $30,000. For those of you who forgot so quickly that's half of the summer event prize. You can see your favorite team's potential piece of the 100 grand pie by following this link.

Is CPL losing sponsorship money????



I bet it's because of Halo and some other potential decent multiplayer games....anyone think that CS won't be headlining summer or winter CPL '04?

Dunno.. Winter event usually doesn't top the Summer prize, as far as I know (Summer's just worth soooo much more, in braggin rights and whatnot)

I believe Counter-strike will be around for 4-5 more CPL events.

With HL:2 and potentially CS:2 on the way soon, I believe many will switch over.

The summer CPL held 128 teams, hence $60,000.

The winter CPL will hold 64, hence half of $60,000 which is $30,000.
