German CS:CZ "Review"

hilariously enough, i think that VU would get more 'cold hard cash' out of CZ if they delayed it another 5 years, waited for HL2 to live out its fame and release CZ as a 'remember the good old CS days' nostalgia game

for reviews sake, ive read the uk review, and i (not living in the uk but in canada) have to say i think the uk review is a fairly good one, if not great, i believe it says out loud what needs to be known about CZ, instead of desperatly clinging on to any good point the game has to offer (and it seems theres not much except the uninstall button) they simply show that despite all the time put into it, wich is baisically nullified by the developper changes etc, the game is downright mediocre, and far from what anyone whos been playing CS for long enough, and remembers when people started talking about CZ being developped,would expect.

CS/CZ is a just another lame attempt to cash in on CS. much like CS-retail. The problem is CS is a really lame old game and the ONLY thing that makes it fun is the multiplayer aspect of it.

Firstly, I think we can all agree (well, most of us anyway) that CS:CZ is going to be sheer crap-on-a-stick. If it's going to do well, it'll have to beat other FPS games which have strong single-player elements like Red Faction, GoldenEye, 007 Nightfire, Deus Ex etc. And fankly, we know it won't beat most, if any, of those titles.



Secondly, the devolper changes have hurt CS:CZ the most. If they had gone wih one devolper from the start, and choosen devolper well, then CS:CZ could have been good. Also it could have been out by now. As it is, the devolper switches are what has caused alot of the delays, and of course, a game that has gone through three (is it three? I think so, not sure) devolpers, and has been re-done so many times, is going to be pretty bad.





Thirdly, I want to let you into a little secret about CS:CZ. It's about when it'll be released, and how it'll really turn out..... see, the secret is....................... is that I don't give a flying fuck anymore about how or when it turns out. I've officially totally given up on this game. Frankly I never thought it'd be that good, but before I did have a slight glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe it'd be 'okay'. Now I know it's going to be shite. End.

Except that the entire game is multiplayer. CS has not once attempted to be a single player game.

If people use reviews to formr the basis of a purchase decision, having no indication until the game is released stops them from being able to preorder the game, certainly a full review is not worthy, and should be distinguished but I would be shocked if the game turned out better nad I for one, will not waste any money on it.. sSo in all, the game looks shit, I wont preorder and be mugged of by my love of cs, When you lot play it and say omg i wasted my ca$h, i shall laugh, if u all say its great, I may buy it...

There's no need to defend Gamepro the magazine sucks, Tips&Tricks and Game Informer are very good though and I'm sure there's others. (vivendi sucks btw)

FAF: same exact thing i was thinking. I don't know why valve would hand off cz to not-so-good developers. or have given it to Rouge in the first place :/ and then take it away from gearbox, which i think has done a pretty good job with their hl expansions, and given it to ritual i think they should have stuck with the winning solution, valve+gearbox+sierra = yay!!

yeah your stupid because you later say its the aging engine that effects it the most, and that wouldn't be an issue if CZ come out a year ago like it should have dumbass. The game would be judged way less harshly if HL:2 wasn't breathing down its neck. But because of delays the game is a lot less impressive in comparision games a year + ago

Well, that is sorta the point... the game got delayed so much the engine is so old and newer better games are coming out. Besides, it started from a dated engine right from the beginning anyways, delaying it makes it worse. Also, switching developers causes the delays as well because the next developer needs to reproduce a game and it has been made twice over. The fact of the matter is, developer's played hot patatoe with CZ for so long nothing got done. I believe it when they say there are better mods out there... atleast an ameture mod team could get the game out in quarter of the time it took CZ to come out.



edit - Loki, we know they aren't giving it bad reviews because it has been delayed. Many great games have been delayed before (Half-Life). We're saying that it has been delayed so much and hasn't progressed as much as it should have that it's already a dated and bad game before it's been released.
