Rizzuh, he's defending the reviewing of 'unfinished products', simply because they were unfinished when they were supplied for review! If the publisher had wanted a better review score they should have waited until the game was 'gold', before sending a copy to the magazines!



It's not the job of the press to decline reviewing a game, when they've been lead to believe that the copy supplied is representative of the final version (which is clear from the quoted article.)



[Edit to add:] Actually, the UK press does preview games, right up until they are supplied the review copy by the publisher.

Man, I hate it when usually reliable sources give inaccurate information. Whoever wrote this review should be fired and/or shot. They should post some news on their website apologising for the inaccurate review and the person who wrote it should bow his head in shame and apologise as well.

Well "released" was a silly word for me to use in this topic. Modern PC games are always full of bugs anyway, released or otherwise. So what was your point? Although it seems to have gone now so I'll just shut up.

Sorry rizzuh. While I respect your work on this site, and accept the fact that when it comes to CS in general you know alot more then myself, I have to say when it comes to journalism, in this case the aspect of gaming journalism, you know in effect, nothing. Now you may very well accuse myself of favoring the british gaming reviews due to the fact I'm british. However, you are also favoring the americans. So far you've refused to face the simple truth, which is that a) the publisher of CS:CZ let out a copy of said game for review, so if the game gets a poor review, that is in no way the presses' fault, and is in fact, the publishers, and b) that the UK press is alot more cynical and 'truthful' about how games play then their US counterparts.



To sum up, rizzuh, you seem to think that because you rn this one website, that you are the dogs' bollocks (not literally speaking of course). In truth, while yes, you do run this site, and yes, you do a good job of it, the fact remains that the majority of the time your reply contain nothing more then plain favoritism and quite frankly, rubbish.

PC Zone is not indicative of British gaming mags. That is my point that I never said before but rather decided to ramble on instead for some reason.



Don't generalise it as one huge amateurish ball just because some mags got an early "review copy" from the inept publisher or that they swear and make jokes.

And if anyone is interested, "some" reviewers are paid well to give good score. Even more so when a country is very rich...

I have always thought the UK PC-Gamer has been very accurate in its reviews. I cannot comment on PC Zone, never read it.



Counter-Strike - Condition Zero is going to sell for £17.99 in the UK, DOD was £20 ffs, what does that tell you ?



It is an overdue game that WILL be a let-down, except it and move on!

That has nothing to do with it. I have always thought that UK gaming media, with the exception of NextGen or whatever, has been horrible. I've known the game wasn't going to be great for a while now, but this is a fansite.

Yes, you're right. I don't share your opinion that reviewing unfinished titles is more truthful. And you should know that cynicism and truth can often conflict.



I'm sorry, I don't just buy that because it's across the Atlantic that all UK press is some how mysteriously intelligent, intellectual, and far superior.
