CS is Great!

GameSpot, a large game website devoted to all types of computer and video games, is continuing its GREATEST GAMES EVER! series by inducting Counter-Strike as "The Greatest Online Tactical Shooter Ever". Although you already know why CS is great, apparently some don't:

Once in the game, the overall goal is to complete your mission while trying to take out as many opposing team members as possible. Players are awarded cash during the gameplay that's used to buy weapons and gear at the beginning of each round, but since the winning team earns more cash overall than the losing team does, there is a great deal of strategy associated with how and what your team spends its money on.

Read the rest here! I met Ryan MacDonald, who wrote a little tidbit at the bottom, at E3 and he was a great guy. Not the greatest guy ever, though.

This type of article has been done so many times before. They get boring after a while. He's just stating the obvious like one thousand other writers have done one thousand times before. The whole "Best Games of All Time", "Worst Games of All Time", "Stupidest Games of All Time", "Best Looking Table in a Game of All Time" type of list is getting old...

Nope, that's the old aztec, before 1.5, not sure when it was released though. It had a different bombsite a as well.

It was 1.0 aztec I think. I mean the screenshots they have would probably be 1.0 retail. I started in 1.1 and I didn't play that aztec in that version.

Counter-Strike probably doesn't even make it to the top 50.

Quake *created* the online FPS experience and community. And yes, CS certainly has changed the way people think about online gaming. People are now under the illusion that it's a "sport" to sit twelve hours in front of a computer and play CS until your wrist explodes from the pain.

Counter-Strike doesn't give you that ability, Half-Life does.

Counter-Strike's weapons are semi-realistic at best.

The controls come from the engine, and the damage system is far from unforgiving. Try Raven Shield for 'unforgiving.'



I hate it when utter idiots start writing reviews. I really like CS, but it's starting to resemble the second coming of Jesus Christ.

That article was poor at best. He may aswell have just copied+pasted the other 1,000,000 articles about CS that are out there. I think the average CS player could write an article 1,000x better then that one (though given the average CS players' lack of grammar skills, I'm not so sure to be honest).
