check out the latest issue of Maximum PC: article about what video cards will implement which texture effects in HL2. i am going to need this game delay to scrape up the $300 for the recommended DirectX 10 compatible video card if i want to see all the pimp new effects.Comment

im wondering, will the multiplayer maps for HL2 have lots of interesting entities to make the map more believable, or will it be the same boring "just walls + crates" type maps? now im asking this because if ever there was a map with lots of entities, the server would need to keep track of all of them. putting extra load on the server.
would be nice if valve optimised maps :)Comment

I don't mind if they do delay it, i was expecting it anyway. More time for me to get money for an upgrade. P5's and athlon 64s will be out by January hopefully, and maybe along with some even better gpu's. So i'll get hl2 on x mas, play it a bit on this machine and then with the new one. Better than playing it all on a older machine, for 3 months without seeing what it can really do.Comment

I don't think it would matter. GTA3 was released in October of 2001 and its sales haven't suffered.
