HL2 Delayed?

Calm down, it's just a rumor.



Someone back there mentioned that HL2 will either make Valve rich or ruin them, and he/she though it would be the latter. I disagree, considering that no matter how good the game is they're still going to be rich. They will have enough opening day sales before any bad news gets out that they will have it payed for already.



Plus, I really think that Valve will pull this one off. After all, HL was their debut game and a phenomenal success, that's a sign of a good team. HL2 will live up to its name. If it doesn't, then some of the modifications for it will.

I don't think it would matter. GTA3 was released in October of 2001 and its sales haven't suffered.

He said the first was Black and White, although there is Vaporware which has obviously been around longer than DNF, so I'm assuming he doesn't count that. Although I don't think DNF should be counted either because in my mind, it's already Vaporware.

What they should do is release it on schedule then in December re-release it with "additional footage" or some bullshit like that. People will flock for it like flies on shit, because what HL fan wouldn't want that for christmas? UH HUH, UH HUH AINT THAT SO SMRT! :o

vivendi wants to delay because a christmas release would make a lot more money than an oct. 1st release

Again, this sort of situation makes no sense to me. Valve has already said they will release HL2 over steam. If they were at odds with Vivendi they could just do a release over steam for the time being. This would probably drastically hurt Vivendi's sales. It's possible they signed a 'we won't put this on steam until it hits shelves' contract, but I'm guessing that's unlikely.
