And given the score that PCZ gave CS:CZ...

    ...worst licensing ever.
How come the British seem to accept reviews of games that aren't done yet? Not a single American publication reviews a non-gold version of a game.

I'm not saying CS:CZ will be good, it just seems wrong to review something that isn't done.

I'm not disagreeing with you Rizzuh, but I believe that non-finished and non-gold are different things.

I'm not gonna download any of the videos because everyone is saying that they look awesome yadda yadda yadda and thats good enough for me.

Similarly I don't watch trailers for certain films because they seem to like showing a bit too much in them. I would rather be completely and utterly blown away by something I've never seen before, rather than know gandalf is gonna dramaticly confront that firey demon on the bridge in helms deep.

PC magazines usually review games that are extremely unbelievably stupidly close to finished.

Just the companies prefer to have reviews done already to add to the pre-release hype.

I think most are waiting for HL2 so we are closer to getting to CS2. After all, HL2 will only provide about 15-20 hours of gameplay. After that it's back to CS. CS with HL2 physics will be a huge improvement.

Actually, PCZ is normally quite good about not reviewing finished software. I suspect that were told it was gold, rather than them just reviewing something which they knew wasn't finished. Could be wrong, of course.

Either way, the review wasn't favourable. If it was unfinished and Ritual can fix up the problems, more power to them.

Usually the companies want them to review the unfinished version to increase the hype. They are usually close to release, they wouldn't give a magazine a rubbish non-release quality version, so that they could change it when the review stunk.

Why don't game companies ever think about investing in a hardware reseller partner? VALVe and Dell working to sell the Half-Life 2 branded computer, with special HL2 grab-bag toys? I'm sure it's been thought of before. I wonder why it's never happened.

and ATI Tech say the same thing....sigh.......im gonna go for ATI this time.
I'd say go for ATI too, even though I prefer nVIDIA. The idea that maybe someday we'll get FSAA with a card you bought before the game is released is appealing.

BZZZT. With 12 chapters, each at 3 to 4 hours, that's 36 to 48 hours. But I get what you are trying to say. Singleplayer has a fixed amount of playtime. Hopefully non-scripted sequences "Increase Replayability"®. Then again, I'm a singleplayer fanboy.

Think about this: When PC Gamer's reviews come out to subscribers the day HL2 is released, they had already done the review ~three months before.

No way in hell I'd buy into something like that if it was Dell. lol

                            Amazing. People look like people!

That was the hottest thing in rendering technology that i have ever seen.

I would like to see my hands and feet though...

                            hope thats added in HL3

Wouldnt it be awsome if cs was to be converted into that graphics engine...

Ok... about 1.6 through steam... why is it that steam no longer accepts the "opengl" mode? It forces me to play through "software" mode and it looks like im playing the original doom... any1 know whats going on?

Dont forget people, the version of HL2 that these demos were recorded from is 9 MONTHS OLD! A ton of revisions have been done in that time, so most of your nitpicking has been addressed (Crowbar breaking wood before it hits, awkward blood splatters). :)

did u know that the original doom series had the fps locked at 31. ? i dont think any1 who has experienced a 3d accelerator card (and 99% of us sure have by now) can every think that 31 fps is at all playable. ah, those were the days....

i remember first seeing a game at 60fps, some flight sim, i almost creamed in my boxers! (so to speak..)

so in respect to the pre-3d accelerator card era, i will now *attempt* to play CS in software mode.

ok gonna try and DL the movie from gayplanet, whoops did i say that? i mean fileplanet...fingers (and other appendages) crossed its not corrupt.
