You actually had some decent arguements, then you had to go and pull a common jackassery move and make such a stupid observation.
stupid because its obvious? i swear to god, just watch the news for 5 minutes and you will see that every reporter, regardless of race, sounds the same (but idk, maybe you don't live around nyc where the reporters are of different race)

its not a kkk-style observation, its what i said before, people in the media business (reporters, journalists) copy each other to sound more "refined." hence that chick using "indeed" twice in her article and hence all the reporters having the same "rich guy" accent. if what im sayin is retarded tell me where im goin wrong...

This is not a UK phenomenan particularly, I tink there are many more hang ups over sexuality stateside and in teentypes generally than Here or amongst adults of reasonable education. CS is a macho game of sorts, and the stereo typical geek/nerd online gamer resplendant in Manson Tshirt, Glasses, acne and spunkstained keyboard, probably needs to assert his masculinity within the game (and without,) as much as possible in self reassurance. Afterall I doubt there are many heterosexual or indeed ANY sexual teenage online gamers.Who I mean when I was a teenager the thought of staying playing computer just didnt cross my mind, it was a caseof out do sport get chicks. Its only now approaching middle age and future coronaries, secure in the knowledge of my missus that I began to play online... knows, I cant wait for a proper sociological study to be done on the phenomena say in 5 years time, when hl2 is approaching its end, and we are all biowet wired into the net..

ok, im 16, so everyone knows where we both stand in terms of life experience

if you truly are "approaching middle age," then obviously the best video game you had around (when you were a teenager) was pong, so don't go giving us bullshit about how great you were choosing sports over games. and if you took 5 seconds to look at what you just said, you are basically admitting that you are following the same trend that every "stereo typical (which is 1 word btw) geek/nerd online gamer" that you criticize is following; ie as computer/internet games get better, you spend more time playing them.

by basically calling every "nerd gamer" a fag and parading the fact that you have a wife, you are a huge fucking hypocrite and no more mature than the average 13 year old skater punk.

why, so you can make yourself look like an idiot again?

It's called not making racial assumptions, ie; sterotypes.

ok i see what you're sayin, i guess i put it badly.

im not saying they sound "white" as in they could be white, but it is a type of articulation which makes you think the person is a white reporter. im not being stereotypical, its just hard for me to explain. let me put this into points, might make it easier.

1: people have a normal way of speaking

2: reporters speak VERY differently when reporting than normal people

3: i think that their way of speaking is kind of like a new language that has evolved over the years

4: go to CNN.com and watch some of the videos, the narrators use that voice

5: turn on the tv and wait for a reporter to start a story, they will use that way of speaking!

6: when there is an ad on tv for an expensive car, the narrator is always speaking softly, at times with a british accent (sounds refined)

7: when you go to a movie and they show the previews, all the narrators speak the same way!! (go to http://www.apple.com/trailers/ and watch some to see what im talkin about) one example: http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/lxg/trailer_large.html

its not a white thing, because i just realized white people dont sound like reporters either. but all this racial crap is beside the point, which is that reporters copy each other's way of speaking to sound more refined/educated.

It's just a matter of diction and enunciation. They have to speak as clearly as humanly possible simply because it's not the kind of job where you want the viewers struggling to figure out what you just said with your wonky accent.

Lol @ teenangst paranoia Sorry for offending u oh delicate one.

I dont have a wife, I have a missus, its uk slang for Bird, that tells me what to do.

Nothing in my post said ALL gamers WERE this or that, I said the stereotype of, which u even quoted, Try to have some comprehension before criticisng.

By basically taking it the whole wrong way you have qualified the connotations WHICH YOU chose to take from what i posted. Obviously u feel insecure at fulfilling the stereotype of being that geek and so feel offended.

You are full of shit with you history of gaming, if u had never played a computer game before Pong was fucking amaing, and formed the basis of arkanoid which was simply amazing... I think they are selling pong plug-in-to-tv arcade roms (all in the joystick!)at the gadget shop actually testament to a true classic game..

check my sogamed<---------- for the details but my fave games that spring to mind are KungFu MAster, Elite, Commando etc.. I was a proud Acorn electron owner (£199.99 rofl!), followed by a vic 20 for a month before getting a C64 then a C64C.

In my teen dayz we went to arcades and played steetfighter, MK, laserquest, pinball, pool blah blah blah. All im saying is u get a better social education with real life interaction and i was hypothesising why people say FAG and GAY all the time. I didnt see you offer me an alternative????
