1.7 will be Steam only?? Aww crap....... looks like I'll be finishing with 1.6 then, really can't be bothered with Steam (and frankly I doubt I'll even both with 1.6, might just go back to playing TimeSplitters on my PS2) Hopefully they'll have sorted out CS2 or something by the time they get round to 1.7 anyway. Ahh well.....

lol im 1 of the people who laughs at all of this. You say that steam is now availible to the public but it WAS all along lol. u could easilly search the web 4 it and it was on various cs websites. Sure valve didnt want it to be recognised as being ofiicialy released to public but you could easilly find it.

I've been using Steam since.... whenever it came out (and promptly fell over) last time, and have been more and more impressed with it each time i've used it. The content delivery is super smooth right now (well, it was before they opened it up to the public. Haven't tried since), and the whole thing just seems more professional than it did many months ago.
Then again, that is standard fare with beta software... so i have absolutely no idea where i'm taking this. Erm...
