No doubt when 1.6 replaces 1.5 everyone will see an exponential increase in network speed because all the 24/7 spam generated in the Lobby chatroom since 1998 won't by hogging bandwidth anymore...

Steam was always open to the public. Never once was it posted anywhere by VALVE that it wasnt public. The only sites that said it wasn't public were the sites that were charging their own loyal visitors money just to play the beta.

That's nice bozer. It's all one big conspiracy!

Did you happen to note how I've been saying Steam was closed for about 6 months now and only released Steam on CSN (with valve's approval) for a week?

VALVe hasn't said that Half-Life 2 is private either, that doesn't mean that breaking into their offices and stealing a copy is a-okay.

It was released on their site.. and I linked to it, before you did. Thats the reality of it.

hey bozer no one cares if you linked to steam on your geocities website. CSN has developed a little thing called "mutual respect with a developer" which is something you wouldn't know about because you're a fucking moron.

              lol CSCentral flamewars lol.

lol, All Im saying is that it was released, and available for download on their site, months ago. I have no reason to lie, or nothing to gain. Ahh but you guys do, since you charged people to download it.

i didn't get any money and i'm not a csn team meber but rze reframed from linking to unofficial steam mirrors for obvious reasons. And i'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that fileplanet/fileshack and CSN had actual permission from valve to release it under certain conditions (subscribers only) because they obviously weren't ready for a full public load during the early testing as shown by the horrible public launch a few months ago.

Bozer's right! I didn't link to SteamInstall.exe because I predicted that six months down the road I'd be able to charge for it for a full week!

                      Damn! Caught red handed!

how come i can't turn off mouse accel when i am playing 1.6?

i don't have it running in control panel, but the -noforcemaccel in the target line doesn't work for steam... it drives me nuts :/

Well, only 260 minutes 16 seconds until my version is updated by steam. That makes me think there is just a bit more network stress... I have a 1.6 mbps connection...

                            Orphy says this:
Not sure if this is how, but it's the only way that makes sense to me:
» First, open up the games menu, right click on Counter-Strike, and go to properties.

» Choose launch options and enter in "-noforcemparms -noforcempaccel" and hit ok
                            thats what orphy said.
