1. The CD key situation is getting out of hand. Too many fakes.

2. Server admins can't add you to the blacklist. They can only ban you from their own server.

I have a program that lets you use keyboard shortcuts to control winamp without having to have winamp selected. In other words i can control winamp from CS. Bad thing is, it doesn't work with winamp3, but thats no biggie.

I think they may just look at the MAC address of the ethernet card. That way if a different computer uses the same WON ID (Making the assumption that is what Eric is talking about when he says family members) it does not see it as a Key change. Then again, who knows or cares? Valve has always supported the HL game and continues to do so in a manner that no other company has.

I will just have faith in them and believe that it will all work out for the best.

I think it goes like this (or should): When someone is banned for using a cheat, it logs their ip and wonid. If they try to connect w/ the same ip, but different wonid, then it bans them again. Thats the only way i can think of it working, anyway. The only problem is that people can just change their ip address.

You're wrong. They do have MAC addresses.



Oh, and about the Winamp stuff, I've seen some plugins for global hotkey controls. You can find them on Winamp's website. They may have something like that out for Winamp 3, so do a search on the Winamp site if you want one. I think the keyword "hotkey" under their component/plugin search would get the results.

the nowon thing is pretty funny, i can see alot of cheaters getting upset because the few servers on that list that are online are starting to fill up. and yeah, the problem has never been cheaters that for some reason enjoy playing with other cheaters, its been cheaters who couldn't hack it against real players so they started cheating, if they want to use those nowon servers, thats fine with me because I'll never have a need or desire to venture into one of those snake pits



and recall, if someone had the know-how to send in fake bans, don't you think they would have broken into the won system before now? (oh wait, i forgot logic is lost when dealing with cheaters)

i had windows media playing running, added songs to the playlist and i have a mute button, volume button, next button,back,pause etc works just fine, also if i press escape then press alt tab i can do whatever i want when i dead i am able to go back and click resume game and i will still be happy with my sound =)

I have one issue, I found this out today. Download the newest HL irc and used it in a game today, and I got kicked by the VAC system. I don't know if this is something worth testing but it sure didn't look good to my clan mates. Just thought I would mention it. Cause I really like HLirc but it has set off Anti-Cheats before.
