VAC Updated Again

New VALVe Anti-Cheat (VAC) modules are being sent to servers automatically. CS-Nation recommends that all server operators restart their HLDS. Note: All cheaters caught using a cheat will be reported to the ban list. All people using a detected CD-Key changer will also be reported to the ban list.



Eric Smith had this to say on the HLDS mailing list:

We've updated the public security modules again. If you've been helping us test the beta security modules, you should remove the password from your command line and restart your server. The beta security modules are no longer being tested.



These security modules should detect most versions of OGC and report detected cheaters to our ban list server.

We're no longer using port 27013 for the ban list. You will now see traffic (in/out) on port 27011. This traffic is to/from the ban list server. Make sure you have this port open in your firewall.



Your Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat servers should update themselves automatically. If you find your servers are suddenly having problems, try restarting them.



We've been investigating the problems some servers have been having after we update the security modules (clients not being able to connect, etc.). We're still working on the problems. If your server has a problem updating to the latest security modules, please send me any details you have (including which OS you're running and your log files during the update) that will help us track down the problem. You can send this information directly to me (mailto:erics@valvesoftware.com).



We hope to resolve the server problems soon. We appreciate your patience.

VAC Updated Again

VAC has been updated once again. Nothing special with this update, just new detections. Looks like Valve is keeping up with the cheats and updating VAC regularly these days. Keep it up![break="the email"]VAC Updated Yesterday, more of the same:

VAC Updated Again

The Valve Anti-Cheat (VAC) has been updated once again. New detections and detection technologies are the only changes, according to a small post by Valve Software's Nick Shaffner on the Steam Powered forums. VAC updates are automatically distributed on a map change or server connect.

Yay. Now that VAC detects cheaters, my computer decides to delete my vid card, sound card, modem and joystick drivers, just because it think it's funny.



Mark this as important! I think it is. It marks the end of the short period of people taking advantage of Valve's request and "testing" OGC while I'm playing. Bah, bahst'ds.

Directly from the ogc web page : 2.) Valve has been testing several new beta-security modules in the past few days and the OGC team has been closely watching that. As far as we can tell, Valve cannot keep their promise to 'detect all OGC Hook versions' with their "new" security modules ... it also doesn't seem like our OpenGL Hack v2.5 is touched in any way by VAC. However, we have to wait until the public release of those modules to see if OGC Hook and GLhack are affected or not. We will inform you here as soon as VAC updates and we'll also supply you with a new version of OGC Hook, plus I will release OGC OpenGL Hack v3.0 as soon as it is ready. It will work for anyone who can play with the default driver OpenGL32.dll !

Not just any security module update, baby. This is the update which will now ban you if you are caught using cheats... and that includes the use of CS Key Changer applications.

Or he means if I get banned and I change my key they will aoto-ban the new one too?
