Correct me if I'm wrong, but CS was not designed to work on Linux. Therefore, you cannot complain about spending $30 on a game that you hoped would work through the use of a 3rd party emulator like Wine.

You can still pay single player. Really half-life was touted as an incredible single player game with bad multiplayer. Now it has the best multiplayer so people only think about that but still.

I might be wrong here but here are my points:



I'm having a hard time understanding you complain, did it say Linux compatible on the box when you bought the game? No? I can agree that Linux support would be a step in the right direction but it kind of makes it even harder to detect cheaters: How to detect Linux cheats made and used by even more "1337" people...



I can see why you don't want to run Windows though as I am a fan of another OS myself, namely AmigaOS which had and have alot of features I miss in Windows. BTW an interesting project is AROS (www.aros.org) which goal is to provide maximum portability of AmigaOS and applications for it to other platforms (mainly x86, but others as well), there's already a native bootable version, but also one that can be run with Linux and a windowmanager.



The conclusion still remains though, Wine is not an emulator, its not a real virtual machine either. Half-Life will remain windows only unless the anticheat gets integrated in other ways, (unlikely), like maybe through Steam. Or someone keeps updating Wine until it is 100% windows compatible runtime environment.



Get any windows (in any way you can) and run dual boot, because I don't think vmware and other similar virtual machines are fast enough for true gaming experience.



Ah well..and valve and anti-cheat teams out there...keep up the good work! You're doing on hell of a good job! :)
