Yes, I agree that somewhat sensitive topics tend to get distilled into well-meaning platitudes in public forums that lose something in the translation (which is obviously why they tend not to allow comments here whenever a community-related death is reported on CS-Nation). You get that ... end of story. I don't know Bobby -- never spoken to him, never played with him -- but I'm sure he wouldn't mind well-wishes and admiration, whatever the perspective. If it gets the message across and maybe educates and inspires a few folks, who cares.



All I know is he probably owns most of us in CS, and that's plenty enough to make me smile.

Well... it may seem trivial and "expected" to you, and I will certainly not claim it change my way of life, nor did I sit crying in a corner for 15 minutes or anything, but certainly this guy deserves respect considering the difficulties he experience every single day with his disability. To you, and me for that sake, CS is just some game, but to this guy it's probably an escape from his condition, to be able to move around, virtual world or not, still must be liberating for the guy... So claiming that ppl are fake for paying him a tribute, is not only arrogant, but also ignorant... frankly, I find your cynical remark useless, as you have no idea what ppl get out of this article, nor can you claim that anyone other than you find their comments destroying the point of praise...



for some ppl I know CS is more than just a game, it's a hobby, a way of life, as I'm sure it must be for Bobby, considering how much he plays, and to those ppl, the ability to play despite any obstacles, is worth much more to them, than it does for you and me....



Personally, I find any form of activity, physical or not, better than rotting away, feeling sorry for one self, and that is what I think this article is about, that fact that he has found a joy in life, despite the fact that he has had every excuse to just roll over and rot away...



And if you can see the wonder in that, then I'm afraid you are more ignorant than even I perceive...

He might feel more gratification from playing CS in a online community than staring on a dot on his wallpaper, while his friends banter on about the joys of step dancing



He also might enjoy the fact that in CS he meets people who see him as an equal, instead of feeling sorry for him... since pity is not exactly what gets him up in the morning...

I'm sure he does enjoy playing games but that doesnt mean without them he'd just "rot away".
