U know Valve aint gonna ban them cuase it means lossing a customer. They should impletment an automatic and continous slaying or spend a lifet time playing as a chicken for any 1 playing with cheats on a sever, then only by removing theese cheats can they play as normal.

ogc hook is dead now, but theres some for unsecure servers. cheater servers. thast fun too.
Fleko you're an idiot, of course the old cheats work on unsecure servers, no one gives two flips if admins are running servers without vac so people can see who can cheat the fastest

they cant make cs steam only..

if they do, they will lost many player

steam is slower with cablenet too... and there are many 56k players now.
Steam will eliminate the problem of people trying to play on a 56k, honestly I don't know how they do it now, this has already been said and is documented on the steam website. Steam CS isn't any slower on cable modems unless its downloading an update, which of course would be slow no matter what, compare that time to downloading a 98 meg executable update......

How would they be losing a customer? If I bought the game then cheated and got baned from all servers Valve would not lose a cent, because I already paid for it.

You should have read the other posts pertaining to your quote. die_scum ended up being a cheater, who posted on the OGC forums about having cheats on his computer and then deleting them and coming back on the server. His point was that the VAC didn't ban him.

Same thing happen to you now?
Yeah, I read them... I'm not like him, if he is in fact a cheater... I don't have a cheat, I've never installed a cheat, and I never will. I dislike cheaters just as much as the next guy.

I've been checking out the problem on the net, and it looks like it's a common problem with those of us running older 3dfx cards (i.e. voodoo). I'm pretty sure it's a problem with VACS and they'll remedy the situation eventually... til then, no cs for me

I'm in favor of a program that gets rid of cheaters, but not if it's going to prevent honest players such as myself!

FLeK0 I value your opinion like I value cancer. You must have fallen back into the cheating crowd.

It's all propaganda. You people, each and every one of you, is out to destroy morale because none of you truly love this game. The cheats don't work anymore, so you spread myths or lies about how anti-cheats aren't working. Give me a break; your stupid ideals about how Valve is failing and how cheats are popular is an old mentality that should have died when the most encompassing cheat ever did.

Don't be fooled, folks. The legit community has the upper-hand right now and will probably maintain that high ground until VALVe stops supporting HL.

Rizzuh, he had an aimbot, the first one I've seen since 1.3, but he still had one. I'm not complaining, Valve has made this community what it is, including nearly wiping out cheaters. I was just commenting.

firstly, the opengl hack 2.0 is already out and working apparently, so the latest VAC is useless within 24hrs of its release.

second, valves hands are tied on banning.

they know that thousands upon thousands of their gamers cd-keys are in use by other people, many of whom cheat. to ban these keys poses the risk of banning mulitple innocent people at a stroke and in the process losing those gamers faith, which valve knows may kill their sales in future. (a great problem for valve seeings as they live off their half life reputation, having done nothing notable since)

banning ip's is not a solution as most ip's change slightly every connection. therefore banning one ip may ban an innocent party who happens to be assigned it sometime in the future. also the cheater can just reconnect and have a new ip, therefore no solution. i know the innoncent person can also just reconnect, but wouldnt u be annoyed having to do that? <-- i point u to the last few lines in the previous paragraph.

putting in temporary bans is the only "solution". and even this is only a restrictive counter-measure, not a cure.

oh and Jensen, if cheating was almost wiped out as u claim. why are you making such a big fuss here?

ban me here if u like. ive got loads of usernames and email addresses to register again

Wow! A wallhack that is easily blocked by HLGuard! Say it ain't so, Auntie May! And it's not like VAC can "auto-update" itself! And then start to create a ban list to keep morons like you banned! Or if you play using multiple keys, it's not like VAC now restricts you to playing only when a new cheat is out!

                          I was being sarcastic.
even this is only a restrictive counter-measure, not a cure.
Um, duh. The actual cure is when all 75 of your keys, which are not unique to you, but are shared by the other cheaters, are banned.

Morons who have their key leaked will suffer. That is their fault, not VALVe's.

there's only one thing that worries me about a central Valve ban list.

someone *will* crack the database and fill it with thewonids of admins and well known players (these are easy to find using most stats web pages).

i'd prefer if they logged as much info about the cheater as possible and let the admins do the banning.

most proper cheaters check places like this site each day b4 playing. u tell them when vacs updated so they can delete hacks b4 they get caught, then within a matter of hours they go and get the updated cheats.

also, u can blame someone if their key was generated by someone else.

my mate bought half life not too long ago and installed it, on his first connect it said the key was in use.

therefore some keys are used b4 the copy its assigned to is even sold. are u then blaming someone for not buying the game quick enough?

Yes, that's why e-commerce isn't safe and credit cards are being used left and right. "Cracking" a database you know nothing about is incredibly difficult. If a security fault does happen, however, they could always revert the past x hours or remove bans from a specific origin, etc. I'm sure VALVe knows what they're doing.
