Permanent bans are a strong deterent to cheating. If they don't permanent ban people, this is what a cheater will think:

"Well, I'll try to get onto this server with this hack. If it doesn't work, it's no big deal--Valve won't permanently ban me."

<tries cheat>

"Damn, I got detected. Oh well, I'll wait until a new cheat is released so I can try again. It's no big deal though, because there's no chance I'll be permanently banned."

Perm bans will prevent most people from even trying cheats. Allowing people to choose when they want to cheat and when they want to play legit isn't right. All cheaters are scum and should be perm banned. Simple as that.

Giving cheaters an option to play legit is BS...cheaters never gave us an option.

If they manage to get rid of the False-Positives they should permanently ban em' !

Don't ban them, but I have a suggestion once Steam is up and running, have steam change all their available weapons to non-lethal objects such as spoons, flowers etc and reduce the damage caused by these to very small. So for them to kill anyone they would have to hit their target a thousand times! Then they would look really stupid and we could all take the piss out of them.

Thanks grim and gloomy, but your predictions are pointless and depend on too many variables. After the all of the stolen cdkeys are banned, people won't have much to "write-in," now will they?

They could also get a new IP, since the majority of IPs are dynamic. Your solution is weak and your argument against VALVe is poor. Wow, they get a new cdkey and are banned five seconds later.

I have about 70 working cdkeys now. I had 1200 before 1.5 came out :/

Many cheats are stealing your cdkey, and you cant see any new connections on firewalls. it's using your irc client or msn/aim..

yeah ogc team isn't too active in these days, but who cares? there are some non-public cheats. its not too hard to get one. if they know and trust you.

HalfLifeHack 2.0 will b released soon, and it will be updated for all vac. it have an elite programmer team :)

btw i think myg0t dont have any secret cheats, they arent coders.. they need more members... or the clan will die soon. since g0d dont do shit and omp sucks as a ldr -the best of myg0t are not in myg0t anymore..- well that will be the end of cheating. there are still some clans, japs; fury, and small ones, they dont play much on public servers. if u ban other, simple cheaters they wont use cheats again..

but theres hope to keep it alive :

Anyway, sure there are private cheats, but you have to gain the trust of the cheaters to get them. Now tell me, will the average Joe infiltrate myg0t to get the latest private hacks? No.

Valve has stopped cheats that are supposedly VAC-proof, and they'll continue to stop them.

Make a new co-op map ...Ts and CTs team up to hunt down cheaters.

The Cheaters only weapon would be that Goldeneye karate-chop.

Steams compression thingy is a good way to stop hooking cs files. but now vac stopped it :p

hmm, ogc isnt dead =) vac makes a lot of fake cheaters again , if they start banning, they will be bad, and there will be many unsecure server.

Valve has updated their Anti-Cheat system (VAC) yesterday so it is able to detect my OpenGL Hacks v1.8 and v1.9 now. But don't worry! [...] download OpenGL Hack v2.0 ! It has the same cheats like v1.9 ... but it is not detected by VAC! [...] Since they updated VAC yesterday, a LOT of people with Voodoo cards are now detected as cheaters when they're actually not! That's because of the new detection method Valve uses to find my GLhacks [...] and their special hooking techniques. Good job, Valve![...]

To sum it all up: the new VAC is a total mistake!

VAC update / GL Hack update 17.07.02

Valve has updated their Anti-Cheat system (VAC) yesterday so it is able to detect my OpenGL Hacks v1.8 and v1.9 now. But don't worry! Go to our HL cheats section and download OpenGL Hack v2.0 ! It has the same cheats like v1.9 ... but it is not detected by VAC! Windows 2000 users may have problems with it. I'm working on that!

Another word to VAC: Since they updated VAC yesterday, a LOT of people with Voodoo cards are now detected as cheaters when they're actually not! That's because of the new detection method Valve uses to find my GLhacks v1.8 and v1.9 and their special hooking techniques. Good job, Valve!

In contrast to the above, I noticed that VAC does not detect me with v1.8! I tested it on 8 secure servers now and not being detected ... so, obviously, the detection doesn't work for all systems. I have a Hercules 3D Prophet GeForce256 using Detonator 3 drivers running on Windows 95.

To sum it all up: the new VAC is a total mistake!

i found this on ogc website make sure csnation tells this to VaLvE thank you.For more infomation(CSNATION/VALVE E-mail me if u want the website for the hack to find a way to detect it i found this out because i wanted to help ya guys so dont be celebrating so fast
