BTW, whoever stated that the point when the VIP gained the USP was a great thing in CS is wrong; although the fact that he got the USP is good, the amount of damage the knife does per attack decreased in that beta, as well as the adding of the utterly useless secondary knife attack, which still isn't as powerful as the original slash which could kill a a guy wearing a helmet with one quick slash to the head.

Hey I got in mailbag. Good for me.



I don't have any "shrinking data", rizzuh, but in my own experiences, almost everyone I know that played CS back six months to a year ago (I knew about twenty people at my school who did), have quit.



Obviously, this doesn't ring true for everyone. I'm sure there's someone out there who recently hooked a bunch of friends on CS. It just seems like less people are out there though.



Of course, CS is still a hugely popular game. That 'Top 10 Map' survey that came out last week had CS maps at 8 or so out of the top 10 multiplayer maps for any game, and that is impressive.

I agree totally with people who said CS died when it left the betas. I was posted in another mailbag and I talked about the B7.1 - 1.0 switch killing CS and how the community is lame now. Rizzuh kindly put the immage with teh caption "I hate everyone" after it.... Maybe I do...

Well you figure CS2 will last ABOUT 3 years or 4 or even 5 at the most without a huge engine change and huge graphic boosts. That is where CS will really slow as games like Doom 3 are coming out. Yea they are different games but CS will die, not for a while but it will

Not sure if DOOM III will replace counter-strike considering that it requires a computer with the most advanced hardware. One of the great things about CS is that it doesn't require a great computer. Didn't people say that Global Operations would be the next CS? I can't even find that game on the shelves.

I think I'll ignore everything you wrote and just address one statement. Why is the expanding crosshair senseless? If you eat like a hog in heat you're going to become a plump porker. Just as loads of lard are a barometer for how unhealthy someone is, a large reticle is a measure of how [in]accurate your aim will be.



It's a lot like asking why there are lights on the front of your computer. Quite clearly the answer is because the government is tracking us using alien technology, but they're useful because we can tell if our PC is on at a glance. Plus, you can turn it off.

Why is the expanding crosshair senseless?

During the betas that had a normal crosshair, it wasn't that big of a secret where your shots were going. When you have an expanding crosshair that doesn't show a marked center, it's a double whammy on aim. The more the CS crosshair expands, the harder it is to find the exact center in addition to the recoil.

That's why you:



1. Get a custom crosshair.

2. Use the M4 and spray it at the Terrorists.

You can download as many custom crosshairs as you like, it's not going to make the expanding crosshair any more changable.
