I have used cheats on many occasions but never so I could "look good". A lot of the time I spent using cheats was so I could become a better CS player. I perfected the skill of tracking player movements via sound with the help of a wallhack. Playing with a wallhack running is also great for finding the fastest way to kill an enemy in any situation, with any weapon, because you don't have to deal with reaction time. Another way cheats have allowed me to become a better CS player is by opposing cheaters. Most players will just whine or become frustrated after being killed by a cheater, subsequently making them play worse. Instead of crying about how "gay" the cheater is, I would follow the player around in spec mode and analyze their every move. Since cheaters don't need to worry about reaction time they can fire the instant (well, not instant per se) you are in view. Playing against players that have this edge frequently (like we all did in 1.3) allows you to tweak your own reaction time.
I didn't use cheats only to become a better player though, I spent plenty of time (and still do) playing in third person view. I can't express in words how much fun third person view is in CS. There are some other "features" in OGC that I liked to use on a regular basis such as the bunny-hop and auto pistol fire (though both of those have become rather useless in 1.4). The cheat that I used most often though has to be the respawn cheat. What could be more fun than playing CS the entire time? This allows you to do things you normally wouldnt consider because you don't want to waste a round (such as knife rushing a team of 8 Ts). Third person view + respawn = ecstasy (::sigh:: I admit im addicted to CS).
Now before you start to flame me let me point out a few things. I feel the same way most of you do about cheats. I wish they didn't exist. I realize how immature (for lack of a better word) someone must be to use cheats as a tool for harrasment (myg0t = lame). I never played with cheats running if nobody else in the server was (obviously) cheating. This provides absolutely no entertainment value. Playing against cheaters while cheating is very fun because you are both on a level playing field (for the most part, cheats differ as well as hardware etc..). Entirely different strategies are required because you both know exactly where the other player is.
Im not trying to excuse my actions but merely point out to those of you to ignorant to figure it out for yourselves that everyone has their own reasons for cheating.
PS: The amount of time I have spent cheating at CS is probably less than 2% of the time spent playing normally.Comment

oh and btw for the record, ive been playing many times, and hackers come along, but it dont bother me, ppl who are actually good at cs, and who play for fun, dont give two shits, its a nice challenge, and its satisfying to kill them. Im my experience its only people who are mediocre / shite / taking it too seriously that get frustrated and annoyed at cheaters. they get too wraped up in the game and the sense of honour which everyone MUST HAVE because thats how they play, that they forget to take things with a pinch of salt.Comment

If OGC wasn't created, people would be using other hacks. *GASP*
Now, here's another one, don't get confused.
People blame gun manufacturers for making guns that kill people.
However, it is obvious, gun manufacturers can't control what people do with these guns.
This is just the same as cheats like OGC.
Too many people are directing their anger at System for creating the cheats, starting to understand now?
I'm not defending System by any means, but its not 100% his fault that people hack. As I said, there are many other hacks out there, if OGC wasn't around, people would be using those instead.
Its simply common sense. Directing all your anger toward one person for something they can't directly control is pointlesss. If you're going to waste your energy being angry with someone over cheating on CS, be mad at the thousands of people who do it.Comment

Wow... lethal I think you are forgetting the fact that guns have a positive purposes; hunting, protection. If guns were abolished PLEASE tell me how the law is going to catch criminals? Do you honestly think a female cop could stop a 6'2 250lb guy with her pepper spray and a club? NO... you could say cops would be owned... and usually out numbered(as they are now... but thanks to weapons they can "usually" even things out). Now personally I would rather have guns... because like Aragron said; if theres no guns people will find other means; knifes, bottles, clubs, and even fists... of course guns are used in negative ways all the time(sadly)... but I do not blame the gun makers because they DID NOT intend them for this purpose.
Now please tell me the positive things that come out of making a cheat and later realising it... fun? fun at the expense of others? There is NO good reason for creating these cheats... therefore you cant turn your head away when someone using them to cheat in a match... I mean theres not a whole lot else you can do with them but cheat is there?
oh btw JewtotheRescue... peoples reasons for cheating are not as complex as you state... look at the majority(system for example)... they say for fun... or so they can be better then others. What else is there? Its not rocket science :|Comment
