The source code for a work means the preferred form of the work for making modifications to it. If distribution of executable or object code is made by offering access to copy from a designated place, then offering equivalent access to copy the source code from the same place counts as distribution of the source code, even though third parties are not compelled to copy the source along with the object code.

After talking to more people it seems that it is not only people with refresh rate fix.

I would love to see valve come after me for that. Or... even find me. They can't even make a game that is cheat proof or at least cheat resistant.

Valve wouldn't need to come after you - the Free Software Federation would. The FSF is comprised of a whole buncha geeks that have power, and money believe it or not.

Rizz, I just talked to about 10 people that it happened to on the servers I admin, etc. I know I don't cheat and never have. Don't even d/l to look at them and it happened to me.

I am having the same problem as Shaved Hoo Ha (comment 80). I have NEVER cheated, and when I join a server, about 20 seconds later, it kicks me. It tells me that I have a cheat on my computer, which is impossible. I just uninstalled/reinstalled cs and I still have the same problem. Is this just an error in Valve's cheat protection??

Yeah, it must be. Play on an unsecure server and I'm sure Valve will either fix it or start taking computer information VERY soon.

It seems that you need to reboot the server or clients will get this message. Not all of them, just some. After a server reboot we were all able to connect fine.



You may want to make that news Riz. Do I get exclusive reporter rights for it? :lol

Well, simply put i was a coder a long time ago, so i do know that the HL engine WAS fairly simple to find faults in it. Anyone with basic knowledge in reading code could find most of them, and put them to work.



Making cheats a while back was really simple, and not to mention, there was pretty much nothing stopping them.



i belive mike said this earlier, but the fact that the quake(half-life) engine is pretty much "old school" in the terms of gaming, it is amazing that valve is still going hard at it, and even to know a patch was released such a long time after the initial release of half-life is just truly amazing. Kudos to valve. But now with the new VAC sytem, cheating has become a more complex issue, you have to be fairly experienced to find a way past it, and even if you do, if you release it publically, valve should probly have it cracked within a few days of the release.



There will always be cheaters, but the knowledge that something is being done about them is enough to keep me happy.
