Personally I think putting them in jail would be hillarious. Plus why doesnt Valve just look at the trends of what the cheats are doing to pass the cheat checks and just disable them before they are even made. That would make it even harder for the Hackers to cheat and it would piss them off which would be hillarious. Overall I applaud Valve good job.

Yay! no cheating anymore, Some of the player I see playing run and shot so fast, I die like in 5 sec once I see them.
I got a question, is anyone having problem connecting to server? I have this problem where I can't connect to server, the 100 to 0 time left to connect are forever run. plz give advice. thx :)Comment

Oh. Just a thought: Maybe Valve can prosecute the OGC hack makers for "exploiting their work and distributing it." Make it sound like they stole the code and spread it. The law makers don't know diddly about it so they'll think it's a jailable cause.

Haha, that is a good example. If you cheated once, it isn't like all of a sudden it never happened.

That's true, Valve should also address those. I'm assuming that the second part of their anti-cheat (1.5) would be patching OpenGL hacks as well. If they were possible to disable I don't doubt that Valve would have taken action already.
its great they stop OGC but there is alot of other cheats NON OGC that its not stopping, the whole battle isnt against OGC, there is a few wallhacks out there that arent stopped yet and versions of XQZ2's...Comment

Legal action isn't really that far out -- cheating does violate the license, and Valve could also take legal action on behalf of server admins. However, success would set a dangerous precedent concerning publicly distributed software tools, akin to the whole DeCSS debacle. I'm not sure it's such a good idea.
Besides, I doubt Valve would go to such time and expense over an aged engine that'll likely be dead in a year anyway.Comment

This is due to the server you tried to connect on having the new updated Valve Anti-Cheat module that stops OGC 9. The way to fix this is to restart the server.

" OGC gets detected by VAC, wait for another update, in the meantime, you can use OGC GL Hack 1.5 which works for all mods and its not detected.. " they have stopped nothing but OGC, the smaller cheats that can still be downloaded from the most popular cheat sites still work, stuupid valve when will they ever learnComment

I cheated for about a week, using OGC 7, and I got banned from alot of servers. "Oh well," I thought to myself, "there's 20,000 servers out there." When I had quit cheating, I found myself banned from alot of good servers.

true, but what is the worst cheat of all cheats? Aimbot aka OGC with all the features it has together, the most favorite cheat of all?

Don't know about you, but i can kill nearly any guy that uses wallhack, they are easy, just newbies playing around with something they downloaded from the internet. OGC users are harder to kill due to aimbot.. for what i know, no aimbot works with VAC? or?Comment

nononono, thats not what i meant. It's not by any means dependent on your computer. The actual GAME SERVER has to be restarted by the serveradmin. :)

Valve could sue for lost revenue, though. The argument could be made that myg0t's hacks make less people play CS, thus infringing on Valve's profits. If Valve had any solid evidence of this they could sue for the estimated amount of money they've lost because of cheating.
