I was playing it yesterday 1on1 with a mate... he really didn't get it - falling off all the platforms, unable to hit me, unable to do the vertical wall jumps, really didn't like it at all. But we kept playing, I kept kicking arse, and eventually it just turned out to be a really fast game involving lots of coordination skills and fast reactions. It's jumping with frisbies and decapitation. Arcade and fast and fun.

Personally I'd rather the cheaters stayed alive. I just don't think someone deserves to lose their life because they cheat in a computer game, or any physical violence really... perhaps just huge humiliation - that's what cheating tries to beat, right?

Hopefully when CZ comes out the gaping holes of an aging game engine will be history. Half life was written to be easily modified and that fundamental architecture is very hard to patch without a rewrite. As it stands a second year computer science major with time on their hands can crack it open like a melon.



If you design the system with security in mind it will be easier to combat cheat coders. In the past ninety five percent of the hours spent coding games were on the game design not game security. I think that is slowly changing.



If you budget a dedicated staff to combat cheating in the business model it will simply be a game of who runs out of steam first. Will it be the paid programmers or the cheat coding hobbyist?

richochet is quite fun when you dont feel like listeing to the loud gun sounds in cs =p.. i played it more than several months ago and its just fun.. now its not a game you really want to get clans in and what not its just different

gg valve. yes, its not the be-all-end-all fix, but dang, atleast valve is trying this time around. even IF (i think they will figure something out) valve can't stop OGC 9, valve has done way more this time around than before and since 1.4 has come out has made gaming all that much more fun.

i'm j/king daveJ, i just think that cheaters shouldnt be allowed to ruin the fun of the game just so they won't get "lol"ed at and be on the business end of the enemies weapons. If they suck, they should practice and then, surprisingly, they'll get better!

Yup. Everyone's always bashing Valve but in honesty they're a good company. Without them, you wouldn't be here (on CSN).

all im saying m8 is that the game well its like a food product over here in UK, "Marmite" you either like it or you dont well its knida that way with ricochet you have to like it or u never really will. one thing for sure is that it isnt for the FPS fans ie me :). im sure alot think its good but when i played it there was only 3 servers ont it lol, one italian, one german and a uk one so its not the most popular game :/. and the falling off platforms and that i think they should alter the game a bit because its extremely frustrating when u keep falling off o well time will tell.

Ricochet seems like a slapped together game not much effort put into it not many people playing it. (and yes I have tried it so im not just blowing smoke)

HLGuard can't search for just *.zip files on the whole hdd. It can only look around for specified files, thats why it can't detect many cheats if you hide it to something like C:\hlgneverfindit\cheat\ ...

All you have to do is set HL guard to search the whole Hard-driive not just CS folder. I've had people banned for having OGC in their recycling bin...
