de_nuke is an official map. I think it was in retail, and if not, you could just download the map fix from the official site like a good boy.

btw. I just noticed that the pictures show first person mode with inset windows... am I slow? Did other people notice that?
The demo was taken while spectating the player, explaining the window.

Inset windows in first person mode are possible with HLTV and HLTV demos, but not with the regular dead mode for some reason.

Sheesh! Valve just can't win with this community, first you complain how long it takes for them to release updates, now you complain how fast they've released 1.5? Just play the game.

I am kinda shocked at how fast Valve and the CS Team have come up with a new update. I heard there are new features in 1.5 such as the score board being based on a points system aswell which looks a little like this Name Kills Deaths Points Latency or something like that and I also heard that bullets richoet or bounce off the walls and boxes. Is anyof this true? That would be cool to see bullets richoet *gg speeling* off the walls. I have high hopes in cs 1.5. For all those people who keep crying about updates and horsebeans like that. There is no Crying in Counter-Strike. I can't wait for cs 1.5 and 1.6. And also CS:CZ is gonna rock! Peece.

As I was going to say before the comments blew up (or is that down?):

If i do a startmovie command, will I get all that junk ott of the important stuff, or does it cut it out?

I've just been trying my hand at some demo -> .avi work recently.

I love the way Shacknews intro's their HL/CS patch post:

"Valve sends word they are going to make the Internet crash again soon, as new Counter-Strike and Half-Life patches are on the way."

No kidding... give em a break...

At the same time, both sides of the argument are very valid...

                  Against Valves attentive patchiness:

-) If i had bought CS retail and was on 56K, I would want to be able to play the game right out of the box, not have to DL gargantuan patches. Even if i wasn't on 56k, with broadband, now that cable companies may put a threshold on bandwidth used and charge for anything over the threshold, this is an issue to cable users.

                  For Valves Rapid Patching

-) Rapidly released patches means they are trying to address and appease issues. At least they aren't ignoring us. Patching is a necessary concept for games of this nature, people need to get used to it. You chose to buy the game, Caveat Emptor.

this is a win-lose situation for valve. They win by selling the games and making a profit, they lose by putting that profit back into support for the game that is met with negative feedback. at the same time, they won't continue to sell a game (several years after it's initial release) if they don't offer this post point of sale support. It's a new business model, and these guys are some of the pioneers trying to see if it is feasible and workable. It may not be. how would you feel if it all went back to no support after you opened the box? that would suck.

First, to put it this way; If you bought the cs retail game, you knew that you had to update anyway since 1.0 is the version that is bundled. I think people should be very happy that a company support this game for such a long time...it's really unique!!

Also I have heared 2 reasons why it says 118 fps on one of the pictures:

                      1. They've removed the frame rate limit in 1.5

                      2. As you can see from the demo-player, it's beeing played in slow motion, and this causes the fps to rise over normal values (test a HLTV demo for yourself and check the framerate in slow motion...it will rise)

Also, you can update the article rizzuh, since they're not gonna put the demoviewer in cs 1.5 anyway...it's still under development. Check geekboys for the full story: http://www.geekboys.org/community.php?id=1206&type=m

speaking of demos... I have never been able to get my own demos to look smooth. I can watch other peoples demos and they are nice and smooth. If I record my own and try to watch them, they are all laggy and jittery looking. Anyone else had this problem and managed to fix it ? I would reach right through this forum and give you a blowie if any of you know why. Oh btw, I get 20 to 40 ping and I have a good machine that gives me 100fps so it isn't an equipment issue..

Just a guess, but it would seem the reasoning for this would be to avoid exploits, one of two ways:

                          1. Crazy LPB (you'd have to be) with two machines decides to spectate himself with one connection, play on the other. Now he can watch himself with a nice little map-radar. Sure, you could use two monitors and just have a full screen map next to you... but looking between monitors is hard and distracting, having all the info on-screen would be much more useful.

                          2. Cheat exploit protection? By making this only work in HLTV mode... are they avoiding the ability for simple exploits to place that inset window in normal play mode?

Both of these are nothing but musing guesses of somebody who's never been privledged enough to see source code, heh, so take them as such.

[edit: Crazy LPB with two machines would, naturally, include college roommates. :) ]

CS 1.5 should not be mentioned at all. Not until the time it took from 1.3 to 1.4 has passed. It's too frickin early to even think about talking about 1.5.

It took ages in CS terms from 1.3 to 1.4. Was it the longest time on any one version? I don't think so (It's been so long...[/old man voice), but it was up there. Early? How long have you been with CS? They do have times when they go for updates shortly after another one. Usually after a big change thats left a few bugs or so (fancy that, what a coincidence)
