    CS: CZ E3 Update

The very evil people at GameHelper.com have once again posted some excellent Counter-Strike: Condition Zero coverage, this time from the recent E3 in Los Angeles. Here is a more interesting bit:
At GDC, Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox, showed us several screens of the GUI interface used in loading out your CT team as well as the mission map overview. These pieces were rendered using ‘placeholder' graphics at the time and were not representative of the final art assets that would be inserted. Today we learned that everything we saw at GDC has been SCRAPPED. They are starting completely fresh with the GUI interface and, according to Doug, are already about three revisions into this process. A deciding factor in this choice to start anew is the upcoming VGUI 2.0 system that will replace the VGUI in all forthcoming Valve titles. Randy and the Gearbox team decided the work required to get the interface done in the new VGUI system would be worth the effort to keep the title compatible at launch.
Oh, and here is some general-CS-knowledge-quotation-ism:
Current plans are to test CS 1.6 in July or August and release it in conjunction with CZ via STEAM in September or October. An update will be made available to Counter-Strike users online allowing them to patch up to play with CZ owners. Doug explained that they will most likely dole out the extra weapons and some maps in the subsequent patches post CZ release. For example, you'll get 2 of the 10 new weapons introduced in CZ at its launch and then 2 more with the next update.
Maybe they mean CS 1.5, I have no idea. After checking that E3 overview out, be sure to head on over to our Counter-Strike: Condition Zero information section.

One thing I didn't know was that CS will be getting the new equipment one update at a time so not to offset the balance or something. I hope that doesn't mean they're going to be changing the guns with every release so you have to relearn them. I say they should release them all at once. Then again, I'm an idiot.

Only one thing to change in guns are the weapon-models to some new high poly, and more realistic.

I think there will be only 7 or 8 new items: FAMAS, Galil, M60, LAW Rocket, Molotov Coctail, Gas Gren, Shield, adn perhaps that knife changer machete thing..

They must add all weapons to the upcoming HL-mod or CS reatil based upgrades, because if there will be only 2 weapons it make the game incompatible with CS:CZs multiplayer (that should be the same with CS1.5 or 1.6).

yay cz. steam and cz? hrm, i'd rather just keep it pre-ordered than sorta download half of it via steam, the game looks awesome enough.

what the hell happened to the mailbag? yeah, i know the topic sucked, but we shoulda had a new one by now.

I don't even remember what the topic was about. It was up for a very long time on Thursday. Sadly THS might have seen it.

I'm glad the VGUI is getting a over-haul. I never totally liked it. It was better than just the text, but it was a little slow, and kinda bugy. It doesn't work with the tracker software better. I hope they make it nice and pretty, as a GUI should be. =)

The VGUI was functional, but very ugly. I'm glad they're updating it.

I know what a VGUI is, but I have no clue what the letters stand for. Is it something like Visual Game User Interface? That sounds too elementary.
