Microsoft has announced plans to release an online version of Counter-Strike for the Xbox. IGN posted an article about Microsoft's press conference at the E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo, which lists CS as a future Xbox release:
Update: More details are coming out about Xbox Live!. Xbox Live! is Microsoft's answer to online gaming: a centralized area which all online Xbox games will connect to. Pricing is about $50/year or about $10/month. CS will use Xbox Live! and will most likely not interface with PC CS server.
As we said the next version of Halo (MS won't even refer to it as Halo 2) will be online but the company was not forthcoming with any details beyond this. This title of course drew the biggest cheers from the assembled crowd with Counter-Strike, Ninja Gaiden and Star Wars Galaxies splitting second place honors for the biggest ovationsThere has not been any mention of a release date or any confirmation from Valve.
