CS on Xbox

Microsoft has announced plans to release an online version of Counter-Strike for the Xbox. IGN posted an article about Microsoft's press conference at the E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo, which lists CS as a future Xbox release:

As we said the next version of Halo (MS won't even refer to it as Halo 2) will be online but the company was not forthcoming with any details beyond this. This title of course drew the biggest cheers from the assembled crowd with Counter-Strike, Ninja Gaiden and Star Wars Galaxies splitting second place honors for the biggest ovations

There has not been any mention of a release date or any confirmation from Valve. Thanks to NoScope for letting us know about this article. Now I hope that some cool Counter-Strike: Condition Zero news comes out of the E3.



Update: More details are coming out about Xbox Live!. Xbox Live! is Microsoft's answer to online gaming: a centralized area which all online Xbox games will connect to. Pricing is about $50/year or about $10/month. CS will use Xbox Live! and will most likely not interface with PC CS server.

CS has too many keys to use for gay console playing, what about the customizable skins, buy scripts, and chatting? W/O being able to communicate, (or be able to do it fast) is going to be gay. Are they going to put in built in mics for the x-box live or do we have to buy that too? Does Bill Gates wanna rip the console gaming community as well I think so. Screw Bill gates, but he owns us all. =\

Um xbox has its own head set coming out... i also heard that there is a xbox keyboard and mouse coming out but thats just speculation... When it comes to console games im know all

As far as I knew Microsoft was getting sued by nVidia for legal reasons. I wish the XBox would hurry up and die soon, Its gonna die eventually like the Dreamcast did. Only difference is Dreamcast had potential Microsoft think they can just buy all the game companies so they can get exclusive game releases. You wont catch me dead playing on an XBox. Hate the damn thing :S

Ok that's 3 more things ppl will have to buy just to play a game. Why not make it a computer? What I'm seeing here is not a console system, but another way Bill Gates is screwing us all over.. and over.. Well head set would probably cost maybe about 25 bucks? around there... Keyboard probably around 30-40 bucks same w/ the mouse. Hm.. That's quite a bit of money, maybe not to some of u richer folks but for most ppl, every dollar counts. Would Bill Gates be kind enough to include one of these items w/ an online console game when it comes out? Na, he has billions of dollars, why not make more. Will he put bugs in some of his products and make ppl upgrade? Yes cause he's a damn smart buisness man. So like I said, will everyone get ripped off? Yes. GG. Bill Gates wins.



BTW Nintendo started from gaming and is going to and always will be about gaming. On the other hand Sony and Mircosoft can live w/o gaming systems. Damn conglomerates =\. We all grew up on nintendo and ppl don't give nintendo the respect that they deserve.

anyways back on topic- i think thats pretty good that cs will come to a console- as long as it doesnt let pple connect to our servers im happy. teh last thing i want is MORE 12 year olds playing cs

CS will work if it's not just a simple port. If they don't deliver Xbox-level graphics, easier aiming, and simpler buy menus (and the such) then the game will be what we've all been playing for years.



I hope Valve pulls off something cool. A straight port would be basically unplayable and damned ugly.



To answer questions: no it won't interface with us PC players. Xbox Live! is one reason, the other is because PC users would simply dominate the jackasses using a controller.

yes you are exactly right Nintendo dont get enough respect for what they do and ppl fail to realise how much of a con artist bill gates really is. XBox aint no console i would recommend a brain scan if you ever thought it was a console

I totally agree rizzuh, I can't see how they could possibly aim quickly with a controller, and about less than half of the x-box owners will have a keyboard and mouse.

They'll probably never even come close to a keyboard or mouse because of people like Andeh. In either case, Halo and Goldeneye were both great fun in multiplayer.



CS might be exactly the same, only with a full screen and using broadband. It might, however, be a half-assed port that sucks elf. Who knows?

Well, Halo is pretty easy to control actually. I guess it could be cool since you play online, even though its a different cs universe.



Soon there will be CS, CS:CZ, and Xbox CS. Then in the year 2045 CS2 will come out. Wow. So many choices.
