No need to feel sorry. When you think about it, a piece on ESPN that included so many celebrities and showed gaming in a fairly positive light is an enormous victory for the league. We never expected it to be a detailed profile, only a first step.



I'll gladly take 4 minutes on ESPN primetime and on the same program with Tiger Woods, John Madden and the rest of the athletes, than 40 minutes at 3AM on ESPN2 between a Bass Fishing tournament and the psychic network infomercial.

I see what you're saying. You can't get a check-mate without moving a piece. It was, all-in-all, a very positive piece. I actually enjoyed the entire show, but I know that many gamers (including myself) were expecting something different.



There is much more to the CPL and to CS than 4 minutes of sound-bytes. I hope.



One thing I did notice, however, is that sports journalism seems to have a distinctive style. I see the same kind of reporting (fiarly to the point, quick statement then counter-statement, obviously trying to appeal to men) in HBO's Real Sports. I just wanted to throw that off-topic tidbit in for no reason.

In either case, the entire show was about sports video games, not sports themselves.

But you've also neglected to define "play," "trained," and "compete." By your definitions, little babies hanging out in a crib or playpen are involved in sports...or if I'm practicing spinning a pen in my fingers, "playing" with it if you will, then I'm therefore participating in the "sport" of pen twirling. I'm not sure I agree with your definition.



In my humble opinion, Sports need to involve some sort of athletic content, largely aerobic...something where you break a decent sweat. I say that all sports are games. I have no problem with people competing at games, but not all games are sports. HA, there's almost a categorical syllogism there. HA HA.

I disagree with CS being a true sport because of the fact that there is no athletics involved. But im fine with other people thinking it is , it could be a sport on par with chess , poker ect. Most people dont watch those , or consider them true sports but they are still there. I just cant see CS going past say ESPN2 at 2am , most people do NOT want to watch a video game. And most of the people who do want to watch will most likely be CS players themselves.
