    anti-cheat vs OGC

Valve has updated the anti-cheat to detect all current versions of the infamous OGC cheat and the wallhack cvar exploit. All secure servers will automatically download the update when restarted.
We've updated the security module used by "secure" Counter-Strike servers. Your server should update itself in the next while, so you don't need to do anything.

This version of the security module detects versions of OGC and clients abusing the scr_ofs* cvars. Please keep an eye on your server and let Leon and me know if you have any problems.

    (mailto:erics@valvesoftware.com;hartwig@valvesoftw are.com).

    Thanks.

    Busted!

Server admins: Be sure to restart your server as soon as possible or your clients may get errors.

Good lord... Valve takes a very good stride and people still complain. What is this world coming to.

OCG is the king of cheats. Valve has tackled it. I suspect that it will be all systems go with the anti-cheat from now on - a method for prevention has been established, it can be built on just as quickly as OGC can be.

I edited the post and added that "ogc 8.02" line after LeRadldo's comment. (hehe)

But it did say that it caught "all current versions" before LeRaldo posted that, so...

that bit with the screenshot and text was added AFTER my comment was posted.

What's great about this is that it automatically updates when servers restart. In theory, this means that should (somehow) a new OGC come out which (for some reason) isn't detected, an update could be deployed in a number of hours rendering the new version obsolete before it's even a day old :)

I don't know how exactly it works, but I like to think it's like that.

props to valve on this one.. but even if valve comes out with an insurpassable anti cheat there will still being "hackers" in the eye of the cs community.. that would be a nifty article for someone to write about

i seldom run into cheaters.. i see countless accusations in some of the servers i play.. i dont see what ppl dont get about if you see where someone goes behind the wall you estimate where they are and shoot the wall at about heads height.. of course whenever i get totally sick of the peoples ignorance to the fact that there are better people than them and insist on calling them a hacker i stop by D|S', [CK3]'s, and [3D]'s servers
