ya, whatever happend to fileplanet? Now you have to wait in line longer than the downlaod takes!! They need to get more servers and stop relying on their paying customers. Damn those personal servers.

I got a free deal on a personal server, since I registered for Gamespy Arcade (don't ask me why), and the "personal server" speeds are about as slow as the "regular server" speeds, just without the wait.

I don't see how they're doing a good enough job. Half-Life was a great job. Their efforts to cheat-proof it are more along the lines of Daikatana.



If they can't come up with a decent effort God knows they should be able to hire someone who can. They could just release Half-Life for the 8th or 9th time to pay for it if they needed to.



I normally wouldn't come down hard on them, but the *only* thing I wanted out of 1.4 was an effective system to combat cheating. Instead I got a bunch of crap that, while I'm sure it makes somebody all tingly inside, really doesn't make the game much better.



My only guess is that the guys who are responsible for making CS have never played on a public server.

That stopped the ogc team in 1.3. Now they can easily release anything.. None of the servers are protected .

Valve should go away to make TF2, and let some other team (I think the CD team can make a good one) do the anti-cheat, they 'killed' PB, now CD is dieing .

NO, its NOT ok. They just disabled some 2 year old xqz hack..

If cheating is so bad then how come i have not yet run in to ONE cheater in 1.4. Most people i even suspect are kicked either by CSG or the built in anti cheat stuff. You all must play on HomeLAN or something.

The biggest problem in 1.4 is cheating. The admins don't have enough anti-cheats to fight with cheaters. I don't care about little hostage bugs, but cheating..

I would expect that Valve's countermeasures would, from the very beginning (after all they had plenty of semi-public and public beta testing), stop any cheat you could find on one of the well-known cheating websites. That was not the case.



What they did was essentially nothing. Cheaters had to download another cheat from the same place they got their first one. Maybe the other cheat's wallhack wasn't as pretty as the first one. Oh no!



Not claiming I could do any better, but both CSGuard and C-D were. Besides, the Valve guys make a whole lot more money than I do.

As an admin for a public 20 player server, im sorry to tell you that even with CSg 8.0 and the latest config 1.2x we still have OGC8 to deal with. We tested it ourselfs and the blody thing works like a knife though butter!



If the cheater is a bit cleaver and don't go mad it is very hard to track him down and ban him. I feel guilty that sometime I might ban a good player!?!? but it is so hard to tell... so what do you do?



Well we BAN alot of players and our server is still full, I guess we might have a lot of shit players on our server LOL, but at least its cheat free (or as close as we can make it).



We don't play many clan-matches at the moment, since we can't protect our server 100% (



The sooner Valve releases the full thing the better. At least then we can see how it works and go from there. Being in this limbo-land is not good for anyone.

Yea, first person mode is good to detect aim-bots.

The way i see it is new cheat gets released valve catches it and implents fix into steam without any patching catching the cheater and banning him/her from CS. The cheat wont have a clue that valve will patch the cheat as they wont download anything!

when you have a personall server you just dont wait thats it



PS: if the file is 100 meg you will wait longer that if the file is 350k ?
