The final release of beta 1.4 is good. Valve have made some awesome modifications that have been needed for a long time, and some sexy things that just complete the game more. I used to jump and deagle spam like a bitch nonstop, which i obviously cant do now. However im in full agreeance with the jumping modifications. After playing for only about 10-15 hours so far, its quite easy to adjust (much like had to be done for 1.1 - 1.3.. etc etc). play the game and stop bitching. The jumping and walking is very different, however both were good changes.

i dont like the fact that it only takes 1 jump until your at walk speed, or that pistols are so wildly inaccurate unless you are crouched/motionless, or even the fact that to be silent you must be incredibly slow. however it just takes a couple of hours of play to get used to, and actually appreciate the changes. keep up the good work Valve, and keep fixing things that people want fixed.

By Packageing and selling CS they Made it static

If i had purchuced CS from a store you know what i would be emailing Valve right now asking for my money back due to the fact that they have changed the game that they sold me to the point that it's no longer the game that they sold me

Omg haren that is actually very true. People bought the game and then it is completly changed on them? What do they do if the dont like it? They PAID for a game they thought would remain basically the same. This was not the case....what about those people?
Thats my point.. And to quell Any well the patch has been out only 2 days well i've been playing it since the open beta on steam started. They've even changed it more since the last patch i played with wich was at the begining of the month, than any other patch. 1.4 laf. This patch is basicly saying hey i'm a 2.0 software title only i'm not going to tell you that when you dl me. As i have stated if i had purchused CS in the store i would be emailing Valve for my money back.

Many things were changed in 1.3 that people came into uproar about. This is just the same thing. The fanbase and playerbase of Counter-Strike are not going to be altered significantly over a couple changes. If VALVe and Sierra were concerned with the fanbase changing enough to alter their sales, you think they would have made changes to the game in the first place?

They are changing the game in every release because of player input. You should be happy that they are even trying to give something back to the community instead of buying CS, boxing it up and selling it as a buggy piece of software that it was in 1.0. They are actually making an attempt at making the game better and more player friendly.

Sure, it's going to inconvenience people who have played the game for some time, but in the end it's going to make everyone on a *total* scale happier that they fixed the bugs that they did.

        Edit ::

Just so you know, any moron with a computer could have downloaded Counter-Strike before, boxing it and putting it on the shelf didn't really do much of anything for VALVe. Sure, they made a few bucks but overall it was just a marketing move to get the CS team on board for the creation of their real baby project:

        Condition Zero.

Dude your missing the point. It's not a few minor changes and tweaks to combat or firing. Its 5 MAJOR changes to overall gameplay. Walking speed now to the point of being a turtle, Jumping puts you at a dead stop, Accuracy of guns go to shit even walking, and with the removal of jumping they pointed out a old "FEATURE" they put in aka the come to a complete stop when your shot "FEATURE". Oh yea i keep forgeting to call all their changes "FEATURES". Anyway If i wanted realizm i would be playing Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, DOD, MOHAA, or OP:FLP

How many game companies release a game then change it 3-4 patches after it's release to the point that the game that was fun is now so slow and a pain to play. None. ID tryed taking Rocket Jumping out of Q3. You remember what happened with that don't you. They had to repatch the game within a week because everyone complained

I dont care about removal of repeated jumping. It makes the guns too inaccurate when jumping a lot. As for speed walking.... I dunno what that is. Im dumb, I know.

Well the reason why I dont play CS as much anymore is because of cheaters, not because of changes to the game. And what about the people that dont like the changes? Ah well let them not like it. I dont care. But thats just me.

              haren -

I've played competitively since beta 6.6 and I know exactly what the changes were. At first, I was skeptical but now I have come around to form the opinion that I currently have.

My argument is that many people don't give anything a chance. Feel free to troll around various ESports sites and view the 1000 some odd posts about how "stupid" or "lame" the 1.4 changes are, then step back and think about how stupid and lame they are for making such a big deal over really not much of anything.

Sure, it's a slightly different game than before, but please don't act like you didn't know it was coming. There were several releases about the changes that were to be implemented in the new beta.

Also, I'm going to say this one last time: If you don't like the game, don't play it.

In addition, iD was pushing around the idea of taking rocket jumping out of the game and eventually it went bust. There were also issues that people got in a huge uproar about when they took out "floor shooting" (if you play Quake3, you know what I'm talking about) but that slowly faded away after about a week of complaining and today there still isn't any floor shooting.

Yes, iD has made significant changes in patches to Quake3, they just haven't done it all in a single patch like the CS team has decided to do. Gameplay will change. Players skill will change. People will suck at this game now or they will become stars, but that doesn't change the fact that the CS team is not going to release an emergency patch over 1000 players voting "Yes" on a poll when their fanbase is close to 250,000 or more.

If anybody that has played religiously for the past 2 years comes forward and says that removing jumping from CS is a step in the right direction, I'll shut my mouth.

Phyx: I've been playing since BETA 1 if we want to get into a pissing contest over who's been playing longer. The majority of the GAMEPLAY changes they have done up to this point have been minor when compaired to this patch. Even when they took True bunny hoping out that wasnt as strict as making it so you jump once and then you completely stop. While i think the jump restriction idea is good but not how they implimented it. 2 jumps maybe 3 consecutivly but not one.

Null: I just stated my case. They just went the wrong way of implementing that change. One jump is TOO strict.

haren, I wasn't intending on getting into a pissing contest over who's played longer. Your post made it seem like I was some ignorant newbie that's never played CS before yesterday, I was just making it clear that I know each and every change that they implemented.

I can live with a limit of 3 jumps, but the ideal thing to do would be to fix the bug where jumping lets you move silently. I don't use jumping to move silently, that's what walking is for......ohhh nevermind they screwed that too....

May change the game. But change is good. Well at least for me.
                          umm...go away.

I never used the speed walk hack, I've always used the regular walk, but now its just as fast to crouch and move than it is to walk. Why not crouch? You are way more accurate atleast!

The jumping is kinda lame but I can deal with it. The accuracy while moving is what gets me. Its so random its not even funny. I was honestly shooting at one guy today and killed the guy beside him! Yes the fast walking was an exploit but honestly I think it made the game better. The quick weapon switching was a glitch, but I think that made the game better too.

I believe they are making this game a lot slower because they want to make it a "spectator sport". People at home that have no idea what type of game CS is will not be able to follow, nor will they be interested in watching CT's jumping all over the place. They want to tone it down a lot, and slow it down the the point where people that have no clue whats going on will be interested in watching it. Unfortunately there will be just as many people less interested in playing it. CS 1.3+PB(which valve so ignorantly did not support)=perfect.
