Why should anyone care about this guy's opinion? Because he plays "professionally"? If we we wanted to hear opinions we'd go to the steampowered boards.
No one forced you to read this. In fact, shut the fuck up please.

Miss one shot and you're done for? Ummm call me Blarghflukenruddle but I don't think the delay has anything to do with this? Perhaps he was saying.. well if you miss you can't switch to pistol like before and smack them, but wait you can! Explain plz?
If you're playing against top teams, if you see an enemy, and he sees you, you fire your awp, and you miss, you're dead. Before the patch, it was pretty much the same way, except your chances of getting away after a missed shot, and shooting another off were better.

      Okay, gotta ask ..

who is this guy and why do i care he's bein interviewed.
One of the best players on the planet, and you don't care because you know nothing of CS outside of public servers.

Then don't read it. Even if he wasn't a pro player, if you didn't want opinions you shouldn't even bother. Personally, I'd much rather read the opinion of someone who's been playing the game for years, and is exceptionally good at it, compared to someone who may or may not have been playing for long, but isn't nearly as skilled or knowledgable about the game.

Vesslan makes money from CS, I think it's safe to assumke he knows a few things the average player doesn't.

So the fact that the awp has a delay prevents you from switching to pistol and running away? Ermm?

You can't really see the crosshair when the models come to close
Hurrah for pointing out the bleedin' obvious. That said, maybe if the pros are going to get on VALve's case about it hopefully they'll make the crosshairs big again, or at least fro 640x480 users...

No, I said it prevents you from running away, so as not to get shot, and then return and fire another shot while the window of opportunity is still open. With the delay, you can fire a shot, miss, switch to pistol and run back, but you can't run back, switch back to awp and fire again.

              Eh?

If you're a good sniper (you should be if you're going to try using the AW/M in a serious match) then you won't miss. If you do, with the new sp-called 'delay', just don't switch to your pistol. FYI, you now run a bit faster then before when you have the AW/M out. You don't need to switch to your pistol. If you just keep the AW/M out and if you're behidn enough cover (which you should be when sniping), you'll easily be able to duck behind a wall or something while the AW/M chambers another round, and then jump back out, zoom and shoot. Of course, if you try switching to a pistol or knife, that's when you get slowed down because of the 'delay'.

The quick-switch-fire was a glitch. Now that glitch has been fixed, and you should now start using the AW/M how it's meant to be used instead of trying to abuse a glitch in the game.

ur at long A and wait at the wall for T's to come, u shoot the first 1 he die, now u must run cuz the other 4 following him will all nade u and shoot u, if u keep the awp u wont reach cover fast enough, if u switch and run to cover (near the spawn) ull be able to reach it but wont be able to shoot for like 3 sec, and thats more than enough for 1 awper to get in the pit and awp u as soon as u pop out.... NOW U UNDERSTAND!?

it wasnt a glitch, but ppl were getting killed and needed a new excuse cuz the "u h4x" was getting old, so they started to whine about that, why can u switch to deagle without delay!? why can u switch ak/pistol/ak to reset the recoil without delay!? and if only the animation was as long as the delay, but no... quick switch wasnt making some1 shoot faster, its like the silencer, even if u switch it fsat, u wont be able to shoot till the timer set on the silencer/reload finish...

Can someone plz explain to me what's the advantage is of playing on 640x480? I haven't used such a *low crap* resolution since 1998 when I started playing HL with my Voodoo1 4MB videocard.. I have been playing CS on 1024x768 for many years, and I do remember suddenly it was 'l33t' to use 800x600, and lately it's even 640x480??? So why don't these guys play in software mode 320x240 if it's so much better? Is it so you can aim at the *2 pixel* headmodel?? I don't get it.. 640x480 looks like shit, the sprites get in the way, and I don't play any better on it (probably worse).. So plz explain?!? Does it really do something or is it just a another (stupid) "l33t" thingy? Thxs..

P.s. crosshair is fine on 1024x768 after latest update (was too big after previous update)..

It is a glitch... I have been amazed at how people have done nothing but bitch about the shield since it's introduction - saying it is unrealistic... and for years people have been quick switching in less than realistic fashion.

The day they fix it so that you lose Zoom when hit by bullet fire (like in COD , Halo) . that's the day i'm waiting for!

In lower resolutions, the models don't get bigger or smaller or whatever. I don't know why but alot of peopel assume they change size. They don't. The advantages for playing on a low resolution are thus:

                      - Almost no slow-down. Low resolutions are easy as piss to run on, so even with a billion somke grenades you'll still have a good FPS. And of course, people with old graphic cards will obviously be able to run this better.

                      - Bigger crosshair (not anymore though of course). When we had the big crosshair you coudl always see it, plus the gap in the middle surrounded the bullet spray, i.e. the bullets would almost always hit within the area the crosshair covered, making it alot easier to judge where you where shooting in those tense, spray n pray run-ins on small maps.

This is why the smaller crosshair sucks ass now, anyone using a res below 800x600 is now fooked at short-range.

                      - Sprites (such as the radar and HUD) are bigger the lower res you have, meaning you never have to look away from the crosshair to look at the radar or your HP or whatever, it's always in the corner of your eye.

That's why some people use it. Look at most of the pros out there - they're either on 640x480 or 800x600. Not because it's 'cool' to use a 'crap' res, not because they've all got shitty 5-year-old graphic cards, not because they have tiny moniters, but because in terms of actualy playing the game, lower the res the better.

so is this "professional" CS mode actually going to happen? or has it already happened (sorry - I'm obviously a bit out of the loop)

It's not even an 'official idea'. It's just somethign a few people have thought up and suggested, VALVe themselves haven't said anything about it as far as I know.

So basicly all these reasons for playing at low resolution are obsolete now if you have a modern (fast) PC, and because the crosshair size is now suited for 1024x768.. Only thing that kindof speaks for it is the sprites thingy you mentioned.. But I have no problem looking at them at 1024x768 while I'm focusing on my crosshair at the same time.. If the pro's like Vesslan feel they get f*cked over now on low res because of the crosshair size simply change to 1024x768, they have the hardware, so no problem.. It's kindof sad you have to play a game at a low crap res to be just that little bit better at it anyway, I'm happy that periode in CS seems over now..

actually a more plausible reason would be that these "leet pros" have used a low res like this from when they first started playing cs, and they still play well at this low res, so why change to a higher one if they are still good? its just what they are used to.
