Som1 said that we should make a sort of universal WONID database and ban cheaters from ALL servers by preventing them being authorised by WON. Believe me, i hate cheaters as much as all you do, but i think doing this will only like reduce the number of players by 50% or so and seriously damage the community, bcoz like it or not many ppl TRY cheats in the first place bcoz they are paranoid about evry1 else using them and they feel disadvantaged.

What we should do is not to ban every single cheater forever, but seriously discourage them and remove this paranoia from the community.

That’s a lame reason to cheat. I never touched a cheat in my gaming career and when playing against a cheater I would rather leave then say to myself, I can get this guy, Ill just download some cheats and I bet Ill have more cheating skill then him so I can win. That’s just a lame excuse. If someone is cheating it doesn’t make it right for you to start cheating. Leave, ban, or just run around dying the whole time.

As for that idea about a wonid database which would ban all cheaters from every server, I like it, make the bastard but the game again every time they cheat. But the only thing is it better only be for people that are guaranteed cheaters. I get accused for cheating often and I wouldn’t want to have to buy the game again cause some admin thought I was to good so I must be cheating and then ban me. That would be total BS. so it would have to be a way where the people who are banned were guaranteed cheaters. Valve would have to have their anti-cheat ban people who are caught cheating and then add them to this wonid database. Also they would have to have the option for admins to still ban but it would only ban them from that 1 server.

Well, sorry but cheats are as easy as one-two-three to download. Anyone who wants to see how, open up yahoo!, Search Counter-Strike Skins, and just look at the third choice I believe it is. THAT is how easy it is to get a cheat. That simple. Sadly cheating-death works for nothing, sweat and blood was put into it? Sorry but I've seen a server FULL of cheaters and all had cheating death. On a server today, people were talking openly about how OGC 7 is passed by on C.D. So sadly, no cheating-death doesn't work. The really only way to make it work, is get the cheat, figure out HOW it works, find the config file, and make it somehow disable it. Although lots of time would go into this, it probably has not been tried. If it has, it hasn't been done thoroughly enough. Also, thanks for the comments on the WONID database, and although trying to discourage cheaters, I also sadly doubt that will have effect. The only real way to win, would be to take the game away. That is the ONLY way to win, and we should hope that won't happen ANYWHERE in the near, or distant future for that matter.

ghetto mouse i so beg to differ... chances are either that was an OLD cd or the fact that your one of the people that ruins the community by accusing everyone and their right mind of hacking... i RARELY run into cheaters... i know how to tell skill from hacks... not that hard... please step down from your arguement about how CD sucks ghetto and go away

In reply to ghetto*mouse, I wonder how you can say that cheating-death does not work. You are in other words accusing those in the anti-cheating community of being stupid. Do you not think that if CD did not work, NOBODY would use it? I think its popularity speaks for itself and its usefulness.

The main problem with the WONID resolution is the fact that many admins out there often abuse their powers and ban people regardless of whether or not they're cheating or if they're just pissed that day.

Commenting on C-D giving higher pings and such:

Even if C-D does give a higher ping, it shouldent matter much since all the players on the server would have that higher ping as well. Maybe u getting a lower score with CD was just a quoincidance. (how the hell do u spell that?). Anyways, the point is that i would would rather have a slightly high ping then a bunch of hackers running rampet.

The higher the ping the more annoying the game for everyone involved - bullets don't always register, strange lag effects, etc so just because everyone is laggin doesn't make it an even playing field.

A slight increase in ping I could handle but the current cs 1.4 lag is crazy.

I'm also against a universal wonid list - I've seen admins abuse their power and been on the receiving end of an admin's bad day, not all the banned players would deserve it. The average admin already gets to play judge, jury and executioner ...i don't mind the wonid lists of proven cheaters though (screenies, demos, etc)
