CS 1.4 Hoedown

Redef, my ICQ nightmare, has posted a CS 1.4 preview over on Planet Half-Life. Mostly it's a list and a few screens, but it has a nifty Tracker write-up:

Most interesting is easily the Tracker. This tool is essentially valve’s version of ICQ. With the Tracker you have yet another piece of instant messaging software on your desktop, but with a twist. It operates fully in-game, allowing you to see where your friends are playing and giving you the ability to communicate with them while you or they are in-game. I was very skeptical about this first, but have found it to be incredibly convenient (no more annoying mIRC scripts to tell your friends where you are playing). However, there is one draw back. You can communicate with your friend while they are dead, giving you them the ability to alert you to the enemy’s location and stats (no idea whether this will be changed in the future or not).

"You can communicate with your friend while they are dead" Thats just like voice chat....you can't use it to ghost.



If you meant the other way around...its not such a big deal. Most leagues fade to black. And any good pub should force chase cam.

And this was yet another idea they took from TF2. Valve is really squeezing all the money and experience it can from HL. :)

so tracker sits in the middle of your screen when you use it? thats gonna get people killed often. i guess its more for when you are dead though.

I hate ICQ and AIM and I am not going to pay for mIRC so if anyone want to contact me they can call me on the phone.Sounds like a nice feature but I really hate the idea being in touch with every single person I know that plays CS at once.

Even if they fix it so that you can't communicate while dead, some fag ass hacker will make it so you can. This game is ruined. I can hardly stand to play anymore. Pisses me off. And you idiots with the league shit can suck ass. 90% of the people who play this game don't bother with that silly shit. So if it isn't cheat free on pubs then the game is worthless.
