Blitz, your bias is showing.
Black Fair, I replied from my perspective as a reader, no bias involved. CSN is a great site and adds a lot to the community, but my opinion was (is) that I don't see any reason for making a donation, as a reader.
Perhaps mention some future plans, what'll be done with the money, if anything (or if indeed it's just to pay out a little to the hard working staff). The talk of mousemats/t-shirts is the kind of thing I mean. I wouldn't buy one but at least the reader would get something in return that they don't already get.
Buy a gfx card with the donations, hold a community competition of some sort and the winner gets it. CSN would still have some money left, whilst keeping the community happy with their donation (maybe they'll win next time).
As a reader, something like that would probably be worth a small donation, even if you don't win, competitions are fun.
Nevertheless, good luck with the paypal campaign. Rizzuh knows I love him really.Comment

i agree blitzeh, but when i first saw this post i thought , ok yeah fair'nuff rizzuh's been doin this along time fair play to him for it and i was havin a joke [ the redecorating/monopoly money , but then i actually clicked the play pal and saw the 25$ bit repeatedly answer all the questions of comments on POTD/SOTD ....and you may get more if you donate more... wtf.

Might want to chat with Steve Gibson of the Shugashack. He found traffic a bit hard going a while back and has made some interesting arrangements with advertisers. There's a few more banner ads but there's no popups and stuff and from what I understand, he's no longer in financial risk.
Perhaps something can be worked out with advertisers because you said the banner ads are the hosts's ads. But do you pay bandwidth/traffic fees? Oh what the hell do I know.
