CPL uses CS: CZ

The Cyberathlete Professional League has accounced that they'll be using Counter-Strike: Condition Zero for their Summer Championship.

The five-day CPL Summer Championship event will take place Saturday, July 13 to Wednesday, July 17, 2002 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, in downtown Dallas, Texas.



The primary tournament game will be Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, currently being co-developed by Gearbox Software and Valve, LLC. Condition Zero extends the award-winning Counter-Strike multiplayer game with new maps and weapons, while simultaneously introducing new technologies, an extensive single player campaign, and cooperative play.



Condition Zero will include the latest version of the number-one online action game, Counter-Strike, which will be updated to include some of the weapons, characters, scenarios and technology developed for Condition Zero. Total cash prizes for the tournament will be $100,000. Complete tournament rules will be released March 15, 2002.

They'll also be doing a DoD event and a TFC BYOC event. More Condition Zero info.

I cant believe they decided to have CS:CZ as the primary game.

I bet half of the CS community has ever heard of it...

I hope it will just be a big improvement of the existing CS version, though I think the LAW rocket will screw up the gameplay ;(

At least CPL put DoD on the list of games for the summer event. Thank God that they didnt choose something really crappy like The Sims: Hot Date or worse...



But instead of CS:CZ they should have gone with RTCW or MOHAA I think. Those two games kick ass!

If they are going to go this far before the game is even released, it must be lookin' amazing in its beta form. Wonder if this CPL thing has anything to do with the delay.

Ok ... then cpl will also turn into a geek tourney.



Imagine cpl with Cs CZ .. hum, in nuke, terros use some tank to reach the stairs, plant the bomb, they make sure they have shields to stop bullets of CT.



It's not manageable imo to play such a young game in the CPL ... coz cs cz seems to be very different from the original cs.



Mait and see ... and pray for the cpl europe not to use cs cz :)
