I have the new Logitech z560 speakers. I have heard klipsch and I have heard mine, and the differences are minute, and several reviews claim the z560's superior. Also note, the promedias are not a true 400 watts (using standard speaker wattage ratings, RMS) but instead give peak output (the highest point on the sine wave). The difference? A few dB (4 to be exact). Also note that a 10dB increase means sound is twice as loud. Anyways I have grown to love these speakers and would strongly recommend them as I only paid $140 for them at neutronusa. Audigy and z560's will suit any cs player fine, in my opinion.

Does anyone know of a cordless keyboard/mouse (both cordless, mouse optical) pair, besides the logitech one? I need one thats not ergonomic, and not got the padded or handwrest thing...

ok now i have a question for all u guys using creative live cards. My speakers are a mere 3 feet behind me when i play and i've got the volume of the rears all the way up on the controls on the speakers. But they still aren't quite loud enough for me. I was wonderin if there is any way to up the rear volume in the creative audioHQ or surround mixer. By the way i'm runnin win xp pro if that makes a diff.

oh by the way exo, my experience with cordless optical mice and CS is that they generally don't mix well in my opinion. This is mostly due to the added weight of the mice becuase of the two AA batteries. I like my corded optical becuase i can move it quicker than when i had a cordless. The batteries don't last more than two weeks if play more than 6 hours a week plus normal work. Also the cordless mice are bulkier than the other corded ones. This is just my opinion tho.

Falcon... I had that problem with the optical mouse too. It would stop when you moved it too fast.. witch is a problem when U use low sens.

I fixed it by uninstalling the program that came with the mouse. (gotta love microsoft)

I also had a cordless mouse.. but found that there was a slight delay, and in CS that means death so I sold it.

Thanx guys for the intellimouse info, I'll fiddle with things.

rizzuh I didn't know that the sounds for HL were programmed in that way as to make headphones more effective...that's very interesting to me. I guess I'll have to try headphones more often, although now I swear by my positional audio. I could have sworn I could hear the nme's creeping up on me from behind me and to the right, and having it sound like that in the speakers, but I guess not? Oh well, thanx for the info.

About cordless stuff, unless they've advanced since I last saw them, they seem rather unreliable for precision gaming 'cause they skip and don't track all that well. Not what I want happening when I'm in a firefight.

And it hasn't been said enough, but wtg Luftwaffle, thanx for the great article.

56k (AOL.... *ouch)

17" Goldstar Studioworks (not well known...but one of the best I've known).

yes... my computer is quite outdated...why don't I upgrade?

Well I never use the speach feature just because I find it frustrating and annoying. A good gamer can tell by body language alone-i.e. watching his teamates and knowing a map who is going where and doing what... So I just use some big ole phillips headphones with stereo and I can tell if a sound is behind in front to left right and all that blah blah.

Mouse, well I would use a baller but I got a optical for $20 by logitech and I never have to clean lint out of it and I probably couldn't tell the difference anyway since aiming in cs is a conefire mess so... I'd go with optical on that one just for ease of use.

Monitors are the biggest I'd say over sound or anything else. Nuff said, but who can afford the big ones anyway. I'm just hoping the college I attend will let me hook up the projection screens to my pc someday to do some lan gaming...

Ok next topic you say... How about Custom models and who will hate CS 1.4 without them... I will, only reason I play is becuase of all the super dope models 3rd party people have made. I play better with custom models aswell pshycologically with them. Do an article about that. I won't play a game with ugly models even if the gameplay is there and if CS loses customizable skins then it's dead to me.

Well Darkomen,

I've had a Boomslang 2000 for quite a while now, and It's awesome. Most people diss it straight away because it takes a while to get used to (1-2 weeks) and most people don't give it a chance.... well that's their loss.

The tracking accuracy on the Boomslang is incredibly, and the 4 buttons plus the scroll wheel give you the edge over most other mice. The only complaint I have is that due to its ambidextrous design, I think the little finger button is a bit to high up, which can make your hand feel a bit weird after a few hours....

It is much more l33t3r3r to use the number keys (1-5) for switching weapons. Of course hud_fastswitch should be set to 1 for ulimate 0wnage
