You will probably find yourself struggling to bind all of your keys to the left division of the keyboard for the fastest response possible.
Damn no tolerance for the southpaws in gaming? You know, not everyone is right handed... All of my binds are one key away from the arrow keys...

Doh! rizzuh's supreme comment system got rid of all my spacing...

Amen quiv on your thoughts of being a southpaw! I'm about the only person on campus that plays with the arrow keys instead of wasd. People can always tell who i am cause i use the left handed models too! But that's ok cause they are usually watchin me in spectator mode anyway!

Ergonically in-correct keyboards for the weak.

Maybe for tiny hands it's good, just like the Gamecube controller.

But for those of us with normal sized hands, who find the XBOX controller soothing, will find an ergonically correct keyboard is comfortable and dandy.

i have some tight ass compusa brand headphones.. they were only $10... they are the shit, high quality (better than these labtechs i paid $25 for!) and they are large, cover your ear, lightly press against your ear (the labtechs are like twice the size of a silver dollar and press hard on your ears.. god damn) and they just rock... they fall apart easy though, these are my second pair... they discontinued these though, it sucks... so i gotta make this last pair last long with it's tape... jesus half of the cord consists of scotch tape...

Strabo, they do have wireless optical mice now. I just saw an MS wireless one at CompUSA that was like $69. It looks kinda like the explorer but it has a groove on the left hand side. VERY comfortable! And once again, headphones do NOT suck! I can use headphones like a wallhack, but the 4.1 setup I have throws me off. (and yes it is all positioned perfectly)

For those who can't spend $400 bucks on a set of Klipsches, I've heard that the Labtec Pulse424's ($40 or less) are pretty good. Haven't seen them in a while though...

Nice article. Only 1 disagreement...if u would even call it that. It was said that the items were listed in somewhat of an order to "Bang for ur buck". N E way...in my opinion, Monitors were mentioned way too late. The larger monitors, 19" & above, with low dp and high res capabilities, as expensive as they are, are probably one of the most important components in your rig. Whats the point of having all this other great sound, mice, etc. if u cant see your target clearly. *poof* ur dead. all because your crappy 15", 13.9" viewable Samsung monitor doesn't get any brighter and ur contrast is maxed out, and don't forget the horrific .28dp!!!! LOL kind of tangent but u get the picture!!

I use a boomslang 2000 also and (once you get used to it) nothing can beat it for gaming. Razor took on the challenge of building the ultimate gaming mouse and you will notice they dont use optical.

Finally, someone who has a bit of sense.... Yes the boomslang is horrible the first time you use it, but you just need to get used to it.

You're damn right! I always get crap from my friends for using the arrow keys, until I saw this pic...

That is Potti from NiP playing with the arrow keys. SWEET JUSTICE!!!

Now I just gotta convince people that invert mouse is the way to go. It's ALL about the invert mouse. y3ah.

Im left handed also but when I started playing I never thought of the setup as being left or right I just saw it as being the regular keyboard mouse setup. I never tried playing with the arrows but it seems to me that playing that way your loosing out on quick functions with the pinkey and the thumb. my pinky has 2 jobs which are the ctrl key and the shift key while my thumb is just for spacebar jumping. Another thing that I would see as a problem with the arrow keys is the fact that they have less buttons around them so they require even more finger movement. Im thinking that the guy in the pic has he keyboard turned because of this. By turning it he can get the ins, del, and enter key with his thumb. I guess its all in the way you started ut playing for you to be most comfortable but techniqly the wsad style has better potential to be used more efficently while playing.

Hmm, i play with the arrow keys and i use "." for strafe left and "/" for strafe left. Everyone asks how i do it, but thats how i learned. No way is better then another, it all depends what your used to. You shouldnt switch just because more people use different keys, everyones settings are different. One more thing, looking at that pic of Potti from NiP reminds me of myself, but i dont quite have the keyboard over that far.

the arrow keys are fine for me personally. i use the ctrl to jump and the 0 on the keypad to crouch and it works better for me than tryin to hit the huge spacebar all the time with wsad. the smaller button seems to give a better feel in my opinion. i use shift to reload and put my quick weapon switches on delete end and pg down and it work fine. I also agree with entropy on that its all in what u're used to. I started playin rogue spear this way and moved to CS this fall and found a set up and went with it.
