    NDA Rant

Rant House has posted a new article about CS 1.4's NDA. Specifically, why have it?
I'm not a beta tester. So I can say this: Why even have an NDA? Why even let around 200 losers test the damn thing? That was a bad move on Valve's part. Unless of course they wanted it to be leaked. I think that was like the worst decision Valve has made besides taking over the world...
He should have just claimed that this testing was "GAY" and ended the argument there. Of course, it's lose-lose for Valve. Either it has one bug that affects three people and it, "should have been tested longer!!!" Balancing that with some sort of "need for privacy" on Valve's part (which has never existed, Valve and the CS team have always hyped their releases, or at least it was always common knowledge what was in the new version before the release).

Certainly the NDA has no legal bounding in many states (not the entire country) for specific age-groups, but apparently people don't realize the punishment for one specific person leaking would be getting kicked out of the BETA program, not a trial.

The contract isn't binding to Valve either, so you 14 year olds should watch out -- your privacy is in question now that your age group never signed a contract that mattered.

I am almost positive that valve expects their beta testers to blab. Its free advertisement and makes the people not lucky enough to secure a position as a beta tester even more interested in the game. The NDA is a farce, they knew what they were getting into with both eyes open and their are getting exactly what they want.

Umm this beta test is really to test the Steam software out mainly I think. We have seen 20 updates to CS it's not like there's some huge surprise they want to keep secret. This isn't duke nukem or tf2 we are testing. Everything in 1.4 has been seen b4 either in HLTV or in normal play. This is just tweaking and patching nothing exciting.

Its so hard to tell these days what Valve is and isn't trying to do. I think they do everything by chance and then just get lucky -_-

i think valve would rather have ppl get 1.4... and say wow this sux... than to have themselves play 1.4 and say this sux... or mabbe for once they r trying to give back to itz loving community.. HA

Non Disclosure Agreement - Basically a contract. If someone would like to give a more detailed definition then go ahead.
