    CS 1.4 News

Counter-Strike.net has been updated with a few tidbits. Apparently, Gooseman and cliffe are currently in Kirkland, helping out Valve with CS 1.4.
Gooseman and I are out here at Valve working with Eric Smith and company on 1.4, among other things. Macman and Ido have a new map coming and we're currently testing a way to thwart bunnyhoppers. No date is set for 1.4, but one of the more exciting aspects of it will be Valve's new anti-cheating initiative -- which is scheduled to come out around the same time.
I asked cliffe about the bunnyhopping. He said that his statement was concerning the type of bunnyhopping that means you jump over and over, not the one that increased your speed (that was fixed in 1.3). Looks like Valve and the CS team are continuing to balance the game, which is a great sign.

For all retail users, there's now a missing map pack. Finally.

Face it, a lot of the people out there who play cs do so for the SOMEWHAT deathmatch style of the gameplay, otherwise they would play DOD or something. Whatever, ignore this post, since it is stupid, and so are all of you

u can still bunny hop in 1.3 =\ stupid llamas always find some way to get an advantage over other ppl. as for stamina meter, that would be a downside to CS like McDeth says ppl play for somewhat deathmatch style and that is true. This game puts realism and gameplay together nicely. Adding a stamina bar reduces your freedom to jump all over the place and that's been going on since beta 1. People are going to have to start changing the way they fight because jumping away might not solve the problem anymore. If cs becomes too realistic, the gameplay will drop. Look at all the realistic games such as Rouge Spear. It's a dud. 2 shots ur dead. Your alive for like 5 secs and wait for like 5 mins. Hopefully Valve won't put any thing that will hinder the gameplay. This is just my 2 cents

I doubt they're going to do something as predictable and lame as a stamina bar. Maybe something simple like not being able to instantly jump again as soon as you land. Maybe a 1 sec delay or something.

I'd personally like to see them make firing while you're in the air (jumping) so insanly inaccurate (for all weapons) that it would be basically a waste of ammo to even shoot... like the kind of (in)accuracy you get when you're standing on a ladder for instance...

                      stamina bar Hummm !

i think it will suck .....

i like to play firearms but the thing that WE -=TAP=- hate about it is that stupid stamina bar that make you camp and get killed in action

and dont worry some clever coder will get a fix for it trust me !

so ===> no stamina and still will be bunnyhopping !

so basically giving more advange to the cheaters ?

@nix: bunny-hoppers would immediately be recognized as cheaters, remember speed-cheat?

Im with Ratchet. Look at all the people here flipping out just because they think there's a POSSIBILITY that there MIGHT be a stamina bar. You all dont need to go crazy bonkers. What is most likely is, like Ratchet said, accuracy reduction. The CS team has already reduced the accuracy a bit during jumping but apparently its not enough. They need to just make the bullets go ANYWHERE in the field of view if you're jumping. That way if you were in midair but had your gun on them point blank, youd still be likely to hit them but if you're 5 feet away, chances are you wont. Another interesting idea might also be that your aim is severely hindered for a half second after you land. That will take care of all those people that hop out of doorways, guns a-blazing. Its not even close to realistic. It wouldnt ruin the game for me. Maybe it would ruin the game for people who jump around a lot, boo hoo. Maybe that's too realistic for them, boo hoo. Maybe recoil is ALSO to realistic for them. If people wanna play Quake, let em play Quake. Wouldnt bother me a bit if 25% of the CS community left because of realistic tweaks to the game.

I won't have a problem with them toneing down the jumping. I don't play CS anymore (i may start again if 1.4 is any good) but when i did i jumped around like crasy(where needed). Sure it looked stupid, but the truth is it IS a tactic in CS. If i'm jumping around like a moron, there is that much less of a chance of getting hit by an awper. Even if its only 5% less, its still worth it. Does it make more noise? yea but so does running, and walking is ony good in those last minute 1 on 1 cat and mouse show downs.

Bottom line is CS is built like a DM game. Running around jumping like a moron improves your chances of survival, when it really should hender it. Guess they are finnaly going to fix this.
