    Official CS Guide

hahha, i like the review some guy on amazon gave...
There isn't much I can say about this book. It pretty much speaks for itself.

Spending [money] on a book that won't even give you results as good as OGC (which is free) is pretty pointless.

Don't waste your money and don't contribute to X3's cult

    Official CS Guide

Order the Official Counter-Strike Strategy Guide from Amazon.comThe Official Counter-Strike Strategy Guide from Versus Books was published a few moons ago. Yes, it's 100% official. You can grab it off of Amazon.com for $19.99. Wait, wait, what does it have to offer?
    • detailed maps reveal all areas to plan great strategic assaults.

    • players from the us top clan xtreme3 give their expert opinions on how to dominate online.

    • comprehensive weapon analysis to get the most from each tool of war.

    • comprehensive scripting guide for advanced players how to optimze their configuration manually.

    • general techniques and strategies, incl. movement, aiming and sound: the most important components for success.

    • detailed analysis of the 12 most popular maps, explained clearly and illustrated on easy-to-use 2-d level maps.

    • separate strategies and tips for each map give players on public servers that added edge.
Enough with the PR jargon. Here are a couple pages from the guide itself, thanks to Versus Books. Check them out: map overview and match strategy. I haven't been sent a copy yet, but from what I can tell it looks like a good deal. Pick up a copy, you know you want to.

Tell me you aren't serious,rizzuh...a good deal?Twenty dollars for a strategy guide for a free game is a good deal? You guys give us weapons info,Counter-Strike 2d gives us maps,a whole load of fansites gives us strategies so why would we sepnd money on this "guide"?I flipped through it at the mall after I stopped laughing hysterically and didn't find anything that I couldn't find on the internet already. But some people will buy and read it every night but not I.

Well you can't live life without spending some cash. There are plenty of online guides, but I doubt any are as good as something in print. Like I said, I don't have a copy.

That's true but twenty dollars? That's the price of an older game or 25-50 blank CDs.Yes it does look high quality and well put together but does that really help you?It was only around 100 pages or so and of the info at the beginning it seemed if it was a re-worded readme file.It does seem it would help newbies or people who want to know more but honestly your site contain much of its information at twenty dollars less (not that I am saying you guys should charge a subscription for the site :) ).

Their HL guide is $15, but is roughly half the size @ 88 pages. The CS one is 160 pages. We won't know if it's good until/if I get the review copy I asked X3 for.

              You can wait until then..

The cover looks pretty sweet, and some of the pages inside. But like the others said, most of that info can be found at this site, and many others. Yet, if I had 20 to burn, I'd buy it, just to have it.

It is a nice idea, but as with all games the guides found onlnie are always far superior to printed ones.

It will only be bought by newbies and the stupid.

I think it's also a lil arrogant for a clan to assume someone would pay money to hear their 2 cents on how to play a video game. 20 bucks? Well, with all the suckers out there, I wouldn't be surprised. After all, this is a nation that sold a pet rock, and there is a vast quotient of people who are willing to blow cash on something they can easily find a better supply of online.

Excerpt from the "better pubbing" section of the guide:

"Let your team run in front of you. They're all dumb newbies anyhow, because after all you wouldn't want to sacrifice your life for them, right? When they have finished softening up your opponents, mop them up with your colt. If by chance you should die from a stray shot, I suggest blaming it on lag or perhaps the failure of your team to protect you, your team's most important asset. I mean, if it weren't for that you'd NEVER die, right?"

Ok, ok, that was a little bitter :) But seriously, a clan that has risen to prominence because of individual dm tactics ever since cs went 5v5 aka deathmatch trying to sell team strategies is less than convincing. /me waits for Big V's CK3 strat guide ;-) now THOSE were days when teamwork mattered.

When do we get some CS action figures? I want the l337 terrorist with the Kung fu grip. Or the N00b CT with the auto shot gun and the tent.

Ok most of the stuff is gonna be here on the website but if you realize you never actually read the whole strategy on websites cause you get tired of it after a while. In a book you all of the stuff plus it's all compiled nicely and teaches you a bunch of stuff, plus there the x3 stuff that for shure yuo can't find on the net.
