    CS: CZ Interview

Woop, looks like today is a big day for CS news. The CS: Condition Zero project leader, Randy Pitchford from Gearbox, has been interviewed at IGN.com. Here's a tidbit:
IGNPC: It goes without saying the cooperative multiplayer experience is what draws players into Counter-Strike. What are you incorporating into the gameplay that is going to make the single-player experience just as exciting?

Randy Pitchford: In Condition Zero players have a much greater sense of purpose. This never really comes across well in the online game. In Condition Zero, failure has greater consequences and success offers greater rewards. As a Counter Terrorist, for example, you're going in there, getting shot at and putting your life on the line in order to save the lives of innocent civilians. Or, play the game from the other side and see how it feels to not be able to protect your squad mates with simple armor vests because failures in previous missions have left you short of funding. These things types of things are new to Condition Zero and really amplify the excitement of the game as well as keep us coming back for more.
This is a must read, and check out the pictures at the bottom of the interview.

Note that Doug from Valve says that the weapons, player models, and maps will be available in multiplayer. The last answer does say that normal CS players will be able to take part in CS: CZ games.

    CS: CZ Interview

My good pal JCal over at HomeLan has interviewed Randy Pitchford from Gearbox. They riff-raff about Condition Zero and what-not. This one caught my eye:
HomeLAN - What new weapons will players get to use in Condition Zero?

Randy Pitchford - There are eight to 10 new weapons and equipment items including a FAMAS rifle, an M-60 E3 machinegun, a Galil (Israeli assault rifle), a Molotov cocktail, a chemical gas grenade, a LAW rocket (one-shot disposable rocket propelled grenade launcher), a ballistic shield and more. When Gearbox set out to design the weapons, we started with a huge list that was influenced by things like what we wanted to see, what things make sense for each military group to use, what weapons would balance well with CS and which weapons would provide new tactical situations or new angles to classic tactical situations. After some debate, some tests and some hard thinking, we were able to conclude on the weapon selections we’re now offering.
Surely not as stupid as a crossbow, but a LAW?! I can't see how this could possibly be abused. Maybe I'm too hard on Gearbox, check out the rest of the interview and get your ass in the known!

      CS: CZ Interview

Yep, another one with Randy Pitchford. Those limey bastards over at Ferrago have posted a 3 page, semi-long, interview with CS: Condition Zero's project manager: Randy Pitchford. So anyway, I was like, "Yo, Yo Mik--", oh I guess you want a tidbit, eh:
Tell us a little more detail about the new missions that will be added, and could you outline an exciting brand-new mission for us?

Randy Pitchford: New missions take place all over the world in a variety of fictional environments from the streets of European cities to a South American jungle and a Middle Eastern desert town. One of the new missions that we're now playing often in testing takes place in the snow along a giant oil pipeline. In the single player game, your team must move quickly to prevent the pipes from getting sabotaged.
A must read! I say that about all interviews, but really!
