Well, I got word there's a new VAC module out that has several new cheat detections. That's the good news. The bad news is that anyone using WineX under Linux won't be able to connect to secure servers. That's the bad news. The good news though is that VALVe is working with Transgaming Technologies to fix this issue. Finally, the last piece of good news is that your servers will restart automatically and that this post is finally at an end.[break="new eric smith email"]

We've updated the public security modules again. Your Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat servers should update themselves automatically.



These security modules have several new cheat detections. We're already aware of an issue with these modules and WineX users not being able to connect to "secure" servers. We're trying to work with Transgaming Technologies to fix the problem.

Servers don't need to connect to secure servers, so it only affects clients running on Linux through Wine.

the update affects linux clients, not servers. Well, i hope valve increases speed of their vac updates ... Cmon, stop working on 1.6/cd2, more vac action! :-)

#9 I'd much rather see VALVe put effort into 1.6/cs2 rather than an anti-cheat that is as effective and exciting as an Al Gore speech.

#11, when was the last time you actually played CS? New cheats that bypass VAC come out daily. Yea, it does catch the complete idiots who use extremely outdated cheats, but that type of hacker usually doesn't know how to hide it and they're taken care of pretty swiftly. I havn't played in a public server in about 2 months so I'm not sure how bad the cheating scene is but I have an idea.
