    Memory Failures And VAC

Some of you may have had problems with VAC giving out false-positives for cheating due to hardware errors. Counter-Hack's Paladin-X contacted VALVe's Eric Smith about the false-positives, and Eric suggested this fix:
We've heard about false positives from a few people and have been trying to investigate the problems. Some of the problems have been caused by intermittent RAM/hardware errors on the clients' machines.

Have them run the attached program on their computers for a day or two and let me know the results. It just does some RAM checks and reports any failures.

We're still working on this problem and will do what we can to resolve it. We don't want anyone to be falsely detected for a cheat.

    -Eric
If this sounds like something you'd want to try, download the 14.2k program from Counter-Hack, run it, and report failures to paladinx@counter-hack.net so that he can send results to VALVe.

I've found this program that you put on a floppy, and boot off of it and it will run and check your memory. It's very basic (and thorough). It's in a multicolored (!!) DOS screen and beeps really loud when it finds errors, and it's easy for me to diagnose bad memory. It's free, and it's easy to find. The link on that page you gave us isn't available, either.

Now all you need to say is VAC is giving false positives on people infected with viruses. Please go [here], [here], [here], [here], [here], and [here] to fix all those nasty little things.

P.S. I have so played that game with the 4 headed green dragon, but can't pin it down. Can you refresh my memory?

I always thought it was a green robot with loads of legs... VAC is getting to suck at the moment I have to say - there's no way they're keeping up. However I am prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt. They'll be working on 1.6, Steam and the Wallhack blocker in the main. I reckon that post-CS:CZ we'll see a major crackdown on cheating.

It's got to the point where clan matches are pointless again. CZ is my beacon of hope.

There are two other Winchester shotguns out there, and they're frankly both better then this one. The modelling on this one is okay, skin is a little dodgy in some places, but the animations are what amke it worse then the other two really - whereas the other two were semi-realistic with just a hint of Terminator/Resident Evil bad-ass flipping about them, this one goes all-out, including only using the one hand, and it's just a little bit too showy.

It's okay I guess, but there are better examples of this gun out there.

Animations are awsome, yet hilarious. Model/Skin not to bad

                          ITS BACK!

I love this skin, its my all time favorite weapon and skin.

Did fix most of the clipping errors and the hammer looks different from 1.5vr.

I will be professional though and mark it down for some things.

One of the most enjoyable skins I have had. Animations, clipping, reloading and what not is not very noticeable for me, too caught up in jumping, juking, and randomly firing this beautiful gun at whatever I can.

I love this shotgun and I couldn't wait for it to come back. This was my favorite in 1.5 and now I have it again! It is so much fun, and it has a great feel to it. The animations are what make it great. The clipping isn't really THAT noticable for me, so I don't care. Either way it is just a fun gun.
